Hi there,

I've just been given a Fiat Cinquecento Sporting '96 with the standard tyres, however in an attempt to 'jazz' it up a bit, I want to fit a set of wheel trims without having to fork out for new tyres. Can someone give me some advice on what I'll need to do to fit these? I don't have a clue where to start, am a bit of a car novice if truth be told..

Thanks in advance (y)

a cinq sporting should have alloy wheels rather than wheel trims so you cant fit wheel trims unless it is sat on 4 steelies

You mean it should have them as standard?

yep it should have alloy wheels as standard, if it hasnt the wheels have been changed for cheaper steel wheels at some point.

So if its on steel wheels what i would consider doing is getting the correct cinq sporting alloy wheels

Right okay, how would one tell whether it's currently got alloy wheels or cheaper steel ones?

its probably easier for you to post a picture as it could be on anything but standard cinq alloys look like this

However it might not be a cinq sporting and you think it is and it might be an s/sx, if its a sporting it will look like above picture

I want to fit a set of wheel trims without having to fork out for new tyres.

This confuses me. It doesnt matter what wheel trims you put on, you would still need new tyres which is why it might be easier for you to take a photo and we can go from there when we are clear what it is sat on

Alright, I'll try to get one upp'ed for you. But back on the trims aspect, would I be able to fit trims to the wheels regardless of whether they're alloys or not?

no you cant fit trims to alloy wheels

The only thing you can do if you have alloys to 'jazz them up' is either repaint them or buy a different set of alloys

why would you need new tyers? wheel trims are just chunks of plastic that sit in the rim of the steel wheel and look pritty. unless there standard fiat trims (which go behind the wheel nuts) theres no reason to take the wheel off, let alone the tyre.

why would you need new tyers?

i know what wheel trims are lol

,

I want to fit a set of wheel trims without having to fork out for new tyres.

the way the OP has worded it makes it sound to me they want to buy wheel trims instead of buying new tyres i.e. their tyres are low on tread etc

Buying wheel trims wouldnt make a difference as they would still need new tyres however it will become clearer when the OP is sure of what they own

true, however, I read it as they don't want to have to buy a new set of wheels so they can fit wheel trims. ie, the standard ones cant have them fitted. this would be the case if it has alloys on, we could do with a pic.

that is true in that case, we will know in due course hopefully

here ya go
the black wheel is a steel wheel, alloys look a lot diffrent

Well based on that, it sounds like I've got alloys on there, unless someone's fitted trims onto steel wheels?

Sorry if my wording was confusing, I'm not the best with cars at all!
There's nothing wrong with the tyres, I'm just not the biggest fan of the appearance of the wheels, and wanted to know how easy it would be to fit a set of wheel trims onto what I've got.

Yeah, that's what I meant.

cool do they look like the wheels on the yellow one posteed above? if they do than there standard alloys, and theres not a lot you can do to them, you can paint them, or swap them for another set that look diffrent, but thats it really. I personally love those wheels there retro cool

Right I've upp'ed the picture here. I'm guessing that they are the standard fiat alloys?

yep there standard alloys mate, you cant fit wheel trims onto the, they don't have the rim to hold them on. there cool alloys tho, they look alot better painted black or a nice metalic grey

Fair enough.
How much would a new set of alloys cost roughly?
Also, what type of paint would it have to be?

price on alloys varies a lot, depending on condition, tyre quallity, etc..... you can buy a taty set for about £40-50 or spend £400-500 on a good quallity set.
check the classifieds, see whats there, also have a look at ebay. I'll guess you don't want to do a lot to make the wheels fit, so I'l look at maybe seicento standard or abarth alloys.
paint, any car bady paint will do just make sure the wheels are SPOTLESS first and lovely and smooth. a few coats of primer and top coat, followed my clear laquer should get you looking good.
