I have a problem with my wee car. Last week I had only driven a round the corner when the inj warning light came on the car lost power and wouldnt restart. After a few mins the car started fine and has driven most of the week with the inj light on and off intermitantly. The car is misfiring when hot and cold intermitantly also. This morning the car started first turn but the revs were high but as I moved off the car cut out and would not restart. I finally got the car to start by pumping the accelerator and can get it started but when I pull off or idle it loses revs and eventually dies again. Any ideas. Its a seicento sporting 1998. I am probably posting this in the wrong place!! soz

You are posting in the right place, so thats a start.

When was the car last serviced?

Have any of the levels changed in the last week?

Cheers

The car was service in August - the only filter not changed was the fuel filter so gonna do that tmrw.

the levels are all ok not change - checked weekly and there appears to be no oil in water or vise versa.

thanks

Good start.

Open the bonnet at night time with the engine running, looking for rogue sparks.

Check that the crank sensor is clean and the wheel is also clean.

Thanks gonna do that - have ordered new leads and plugs and fuel filter will start there. Hopefully its nothing too serious would hate to send it to the car park in the sky!!

Will thread results back after weekened - thanks again

Straight off id say crank sensor (tdc sensor). The ecu isnt great at picking up errors when running unless a sensor has gone wonky. They're about twenty quid.
Re fuel filter, think its in the tank in some seis and is sod to change

Aye, 98 will be SPi.

Well done plugs and leads cleaned up crank sensor and wheel. No wet plugs etc.

checked and cleaned breather pipe which was clogged up. cleaned at idj unit. fuel filter didnt arrive so havent changed yet. Car now runs and inj warning light off but is misfiring and when driving has kangaroo petrol. do you think it could be lamda?? how d'you check this?? any other ideas ??

cheers Les

If the management light is off, and its still missfiring, then the light should be seeing it, so I would be checking the lambda, yes.
