hello guys been a while since ive been on, the cinq is still alive and sort of well,,,,,in its own way, since the last time i left a post id just had the cinq on the rollers at a bar of boost after lowering the c/r using 2 head gaskets and a decomp plate! after finding out my head was heavily skimmed, and on the rollers i came across the problem that at a full bar of boost the car was only making 118bhp and 126lb/sf of torque. this was down to a few things but mainly beacuse the inlet temps where so high (62degrees) due to the turbo having to work to hard and thus heating up the air and cancelling the power out, the problem was less apparent at 0.8bar but the big drop in c/r meant power was down to 112bhp and the same torque (116bhp/116lb/sf on the higher c/r at 0.6bar previous)
since then i re-routed my intercooler piping up above the gearbox and spun my bob round 90degrees, fitted an intercooler spray and had a full new 2" decat exhaust with better bends, i also fitted a 1.4 stilo clutch, back at the rolling road it made 125bhp and 135lb/sf @ 3750rpm. however it seems that the turbo really is out of puff, and i am moving onto a new engine spec (16v rods and pistons, knock controller, big f/m cooler) so i need to flow more air!!!

the turbo is an ex low boost garrett t15/gt15!? fitted to what i believe was a golf/audi tdi 90bhp, thing is id like to switch to a t2 but i no it will cause alot of probs like moving the rad,oil filter, having the comp housing moved to fit, exhaust etc so im looking into hybriding my turbo or finding a high boost t15 which seem to make a fair bit more than mine for the given pressure.

ive had no luck getting info on the t15 so see if any one can answer these questions

has anyone exsprienced the max limit of the low boost t15s turbine housing??

has anyone hybrided the low boost t15??

and although it will have been said a million times what car exactly did the high boost t15/gt15 come off, i no its vauxhall but, engine, year, modle etc

by the way the car is going really well, accelerates like a cheater! reached a sat nav reading off 124mph recently and itll stay firmly attached to the back bumper of my mates renault megane r26 237bhp 2l turbo upto 80 and he stands no chance of pulling away between roundabouts and trafic lights (y)
i can just tell its lacking when the revs get very high when optimal flow through the tub is needed:(
and something intersting for you, by moving my bob the injector sits on the left facing directly down the side of the standard injector and my fuel distribution probs have gone, all for plugs come out the same colour!!
thanks

Vectra - 68HP 1.7L D X17DTL 95-97 GT1544H

I think -- often on the vans. There's a post by J333EVO with the full details, but note that some of the Vaux used a GT17 or 18, (I think some of the deisel FIATs and Alfas, too, which may be a better bet.

Still have the speedo cable if you want it!

great thankyou, ive been looking up the gt17, im very tempted to try the gt1544h you mensioned for ease of fitment, stick it on and get it back on the rr fot a set up at the same 1 bar of boost, or if it doesnt heat the charge temp up to much then maybe try a little over a bar like martin did, although my boost controller has recorded a peak of 18.4psi on the road with my turbo.

and sorry bout that mate i still want the cable, text me your details through again and ill send it soon,,,,,,had a busy time recently

im speaking to a few companys tomorow about my options with the turbo i have, but i will be ringing u breakers yard tomorow also to try and get the gt15 to try if the price is right, i want 130-140 bhp with 140lb/sf plus

maybe think about a GT1549 from a rover 75 TD, it can flow more than the astra turbo. Im still at low boost 0.6bar at 145bhp but with the 1.2 16v engine, and compressor outlet temps are still very low as far as we can see. Will whack it up to 0.8-0.9bar and see what its like then.

You know, the torque curve from that is quite unlike what we're used to!

(If I may!)

have u not asked shakey for a dyno sheet from his 8v turbo punto??

I've got one,but no way of scanning it. I think J333EVO (Aaron) posted some up with the 3 cars to the Rolling Road (etc.) thread.

Typically, with the turbo off the Astra, the the torque curve launches almost straight up -- over about 5-600 rpm from around 3,000- 3,500rpm, at least in the high boost cars.

I'll take a peek.

//later//looked, but couldn’t find it.

hello everone, not been on in a while.

see the link for the latest on my 1250 turbo cinq project, it makes for intersting reading as i look into choosing (and choose) the utimate perfect turbo for the 1242 turbo engines aiming for 150-170 plus bhp running 1-1.5 bar boost! im also in the process of building up a new engine with MPI, low comp pistons and rods, standalone or piggyback management and a big front mount cooler. The setup i have planned with the new found turbo can make 150bhp no sweat and running as high as 200bhp is a genuine possability........not that cinqs drive train can handle this power but its nice to now the setup can haha
the turbo i have choose can run 1 bar while flowing 15-17lb/min off air at its absoulute peak efficiency upto around 1.5 bar boost meaning low charge temps and big power gains, while spinning up fast thanks to a very efficient turbine wheel and 0.47a/r urbine housing and 0.53a/r compressor housing -

scroll down on the link page to see more and there are lots of pics here too :D

the perfect turbo! Awesome. Expensive though, but i suppose you get what you pay for... if you had the right ecu you could use in-gear boost control to give you the full 200bhp in 5th... wheelspin in every gear lol

the one i have is a GT1549 0.43 a/r compressor and 0.34 a/r turbine, so better than the astra turbo and just as cheap to get hold of. Starts to boost at 1800rpm and gives inlet temps of about 30 degrees @ 0.6bar (with a decent sized FMIC though). I can see the exhaust housing being a limiting factor for much more power though, hopefully 160bhp is within easy reach.

its is a bit pricey but as you say the scope for 200bhp is there, my GT15 was running 25 degrees @ 1 bar on the road with the water spray on and ambient of about 0-1 degree! in the summer it was 61 degrees on thr rolling road! this turbo has been well proven, alot of guys have been swapping these for there T2's and gaining in all erea's.

you should join up to the forum by the way a lad on there (a friend of mine) is wanting to do the 16v 1242 turbo on his punto 60, be good to see pics and a speclist etc on there ;)

thanks
