Need Power

Hello, im new around here i have a cinquecento sporting which im currently making into a road legal track car. At the mo it has been stripped, has 2 bucket seats, rollcage and harnesses, also the car has been lowered 40mm with standard alloys as ive decided im not going to bother changing the alloys.
Now the time has come to get sum more power, 1st thing 1st is to source a 1.2 8v engine and put that in, but then where from there? ive searched the net but not come up with alot apart from turbo's (i assume these fit the 1.2 engine as its the same as the 1.1 block is it not?) , which is looking like its going to be the way to go as im looking at 100 - 120bhp!
Any suggestions on how to achieve more power? I don't necceserilly want turbo power but its looking like thats what it will have to be! Am i right in saying the old trofeo rally cinqs were touching near on 100bhp without turbo power?
thanks in advance
ian

Re: Need Power

Sounds like a great project. I can't help with the technical questions, but I'd like to see some pictures.

The Trofeo cars were 100BHp plus, but were 1242cc MPi I understand, and that was a race-tuned system..

Im looking to choon my 1242 to get 90 BHp ish out of it...push 100 if poss..

Thats fast road cam,
32mm, possible 38mm Throttle body
Induction system and exhaust
Porting and polishing,
3- Degree valve seats,
Remapping!

Cos an exhaust an induction should add a good 5BHp
The Cam is good for 8-10 I understand
The Chip, well most add about 9-10.
The other bits should add 5-10 Between them.

Then, when mine goes off-road (becomes a track car) im thinking Nitrous

Biggest problem is reliability mind....

Re: Need Power

The late trophy cars gave over 100 BHP from 1108cc. These were full race engines and reved over 8000 rpm. They used multi point sequential injection from Marelli, and needed a rebuild every second event.

Cheers

Re: Need Power

But surely the guys behind it are still trading somewhere and can offer advice?

Or is GSR the way to go?

Yep, definately. they really know their stuff (I interrogated Peter at Stanford Hall for a good 30mins on the 1242 16v conversion and why not to do it...).
