Just nearing the end of my punto 75 conversion and am a bit stuck with the wiring.I have a punto manual which has helped me ID most of the wires on the Punto side of the loom but the wiring diagram I have for the Cinq is a bit wierd.
Was wondering if anyone knows what all the wires are (punto and cinq) so I can check my work so far and finally get the bloody thing running!

If they upload, hopefully you can see the two connectors I am talking about.....

Forgot to add where Im at with it.....

Punto Loom-
Orange=Ign Sw
Blue(red)=Malf Ind Lght
Grey(white)=Coolant tmp snsr
Blue=Tacho
Red=Starter
Grey(yellow)=Oil Prs
Grey(black)=Alt Wrn Lght
Brown(white)=Fuel Pump

Cinq Loom-
Green(white)=Coolant tmp snsr
Grey(yellow)=Oil Prs
Orange(black)=Ign Sw
Blue(white)X2=Rvrs lght sw

Cinq Loom-
Green(white)=Coolant tmp snsr
Grey(yellow)=Oil Prs
Orange(black)=Ign Sw
Blue(white)X2=Rvrs lght sw

^ correct

plus;

Fuel injection warning light = white / red
Alternator warning light = black / violet

i have the haynes wiring diagrams in front of me, what do you want to know? (it does not have the main body / enigne loom connector on it as a component thho)

Nice One!!
Im just left with-- Grey(green) , Grey(red) , Red , Orange(green) and orange on the cinq loom!

Starter = Red

according to haynes...fuel pump = green / black (on body loom side of cinq, orange / black on engine loom side)

but am 99% sure the orange / green was the fuel pump when i did my re-wire, will dig out and check for you.

orange = ignition switched live for the main relay, no? Which relays are you using, cinq or punto?

will check grey / green.

Thanks for the help.:):):)

Im using the whole punto efi loom so im using the punto efi relay box.
Im trying to hedge my bets a little really and see if im on the right path as the cinq manual im using is not in english!?!

Forgot to mention...
Im on the efi side of the cinq plug!
Gonna get fitting some bullet connectors and have a trial run with it just now.......

Ok.First attempt and its getting better.
I am getting the fuel pump priming but the ecu 'code' light stays on on the dash and the starter wont operate.
I have tried with blue and red keys(I swapped the transponders over from the punto) but its still the same.
I know the punto ran fine as I drove the bloody thing!
Also the injector light doesnt iluminate straight away, there is a second or two delay before the fuel pump primes ,then the injector light comes on and stays on!

Managed to get the bloody thing cranking earlier (I had missed a couple of wires under the cinq battery tray!DOH!!)but the battery has gone off after being stored so its currently on charge.

I cant really remember ,but shouldnt the ECU CODE light go off when cranking?

Also, where do i look on the cinq loom for my tacho signal? All I have left on the cinq loom is a grey(black).Hoping this just connects to the blue on the punto loom which is defo the tacho wire!
Would try it but its just my luck to near the finish and end up blowing something up!!!!!!

UPDATE...
The code light seems to go off now when I crank:) (maybe it was lit due to the voltage drop when cranking before?) but the battery needs an overnight charge to recover!

I did quickly check for a spark though and it didnt appear I had one????....

OK.Managed to juice up the battery and checked for a spark and there isnt one!
The ecu code light turns off when I crank but the fuel injector light still stays on.:bang:
I replaced the crank sensor but that hasnt helped!!:bang::bang:
I was about to use our OBD scanner but we havent got the right lead!:bang::bang::bang::bang:
Anyway.Im gonna try to remember how to use the oscilloscope and see if the injectors are operating and the crank sensor is pulsing but Im kinda stuck at the mo.Any help would be greatly appreciated..........

Its now sorted (thank god!).
I had managed to get in a bit of a muddle with the wiring but went over everything again and found the problem.
At some point over the weekend I will try and post the wiring instructions for anyone who is interested as ,without my wiring woes ,this is a super easy conversion.

Right then, here is what you need to do to connect the MPI loom up to the Cinq loom (poss seicento too!!)
Main Punto Multiplug.
Punto Brown(white)-to-Cinq Orange(green)
Punto Blue(red)-to-Cinq Grey(red)
Punto Red-to-Cinq Red + Red(black) from starter wiring
Punto Orange-to-Cinq Orange + Orange(black)
Punto Grey(yellow)-to-Cinq Grey(yellow)
Punto Grey(white)-to-Cinq Green(white)
Punto Grey(black)-to-Cinq Black(purple)from alternator wiring

Punto Code box mini plug.
Punto Grey(green)-to-Cinq Grey(green)
Punto Black-to-Cinq Black(purple)from main multiplug

That just leaves the blue on the Punto loom side which I believe is the tacho signal so if you have a quick search regarding fitting an aftermarket tacho, you should be able to find out where to get your last wire plumbed in(my last job for the coming week as its now on ebay!!-new project time methinks!!!)
Please make sure you double check with your own loom as Im pretty sure I havent made an error but best to be sure.It will at least get you on the right track.

Dont forget the punto fuel pump and punto code box (I nearly did!) as well as the ecu and keys.

well done in the conversion, how is the car running now and how do you rate this conversion?
this will be a great help in the future for me and probably others, i was considering a MPI conversion but could be asked with the wiring now that you have a wiring guide i will consider it in the future. well done and thanks for the wiring guide.

Thanks.
The conversion (mechanical side) was all very straightforward as can be seen from the forum guides.By using the whole punto loom you cant fit the ecu in its original place so I have cut away a section of the bulkhead sound deadening material and fitted it behind the battery all covered up to protect it from the elements!
If you chop a bit extra material away you can also leave the brake servo pipe in its original place on the back of the inlet manifold.
A few of the coolant pipes need extending slightly but its not too difficult if you have a little mechanical knowledge and a box full of random spare pipes and bits handy!

I have only been on the road for a few miles up to the MOT test station so it will really need using a bit to allow the ecu to adjust accordingly but it does feel much more lively.Part throttle response feels much better and having almost 50% more power makes overtaking slow moving trafic much easier and safer.
All in all, get hold of a punto 75 now while there are still some nice ones around and whack it in the garage until youve got a free weekend to swap it over. You wont regret it!!!!

Have a look at it on ebay..

looks good . i have just done a 1242 SPI conversion. After all the work you have done why are you getting rid of it??

I have done the 1242 spi with the '75' cam before but never got the results I was expecting really.I decided if I was going to go to the trouble of changing the engine,I might as well go the whole hog!

Im thinking about my next project already!I get bored very easily!
Also I dont have anywhere secure to park it for now.
I did intend to keep it for a while but I want to start saving for my next project.....
Im considering a supercharged 1.4 8valve superfire engine(modded bulkhead to fit the charger in) but may just end up doing a turbo version as my uno turbo conversion kind of died a death after id started chopping bits of cinq away!:D

Sorry for diggin up this thread but I have a few questions.

I placed my 1.2 MPI engine in the Cinq.
I have the MPI engineloom with the Mainplug of the punto attached to it.

From the cinq engine loom I cut all the wires.
So I have the Cinq main plug with the plug of the engine loom in it.

I connected the wires according to this table:

Main Punto Multiplug.
Punto Brown(white) to-Cinq Orange(green)
Punto Blue(red) to-Cinq Grey(red)
Punto Red to-Cinq Red + Red(black) from starter wiring
Punto Orange to-Cinq Orange + Orange(black)
Punto Grey(yellow) to-Cinq Grey(yellow)
Punto Grey(white) to-Cinq Green(white)
Punto Grey(black) to-Cinq Black(purple)from alternator wiring

Punto Code box mini plug.
Punto Grey(green) to-Cinq Grey(green)
Punto Black to-Cinq Black(purple)from main multiplug

My cinq does'nt have a codebox also the donor car did'n have one so I didn't do that part.

Now I would like to be certain of a couple of things:

The "Cinq Black(purple)from alternator wiring" and the "Cinq Red + Red(black) from starter wiring" are the wires that usally go into the plug under the battery tray?

The MPI engine loom has plugs and cables for the starten and dyno.
I don't think these have to be connected as I reused the old cables?

Also the MPI engine runs on 3 bar of fuel pressure.
I placed the fuelpump of the donor car but was wondering if I have to replace the fuel line?

You will have to get the ECU unlocked.

Whell that was'nt my question.
The ECU I have is unlocked, tested it on other cars.

I want to know where teh cables go.

I'v been busy tonigh and found another problem.
On the engine loom is a part where 3 cables get out.
1 go's to the alternator
1 go's to the dyno

The last one is a metal bracket where 3 wires are joined.
I think it go's on the engine to ground the engine loom but I don't know.
Could'nt find it in the haynes manual.
