Hi all, I've just bought some 13" alloys for my Cinq (I smashed my old ones up in a collision with a kerb) and I took them to a local garage to ask about some new wheel bolts and the dude mentioned that the wheels will rub on my trailing arms if I didn't put spacers on the back because the offset is wrong? (or something like that), he recommended 13mm. Now, I took these wheels off a Cinquecento SX and they fit on that fine. Can someone shed some light on this for me? Because my old buckled wheels are getting on my nerves. If I do need spacers, where's the best place to get them? :bang:

Thanks.

Look on the wheels and you'll see "ET ** where ** is a number. It'll either be on the outside or -- more usually -- on the inside of the wheel. Also need some info on what tyres you intend to run.

Report back on that.

Remember, just 'cos they came off a Cinq doesn't mean that the previous owner fitted the right wheels!

Et25 is what it says on the wheel, also I'm planning on having 165/65 R 13 tyres.

The guy at the garage recommended 13mm spacers, but I can only find 10mm.

Those wheels will probably -- just-- fit without spacers. The ET should be 27, so spacers won't help.

It works like this.

The higher the ET, the closer to the centreline of the car the wheel will be. You fit spacers to reduce the effective ET, so, were the ET 35, 8mm spacers would bring it down to 27 (effectively).

So, either the ET on those wheels is really 35 and you've read it wrong, or the garage msan is wrong.

Nice one (y)

Thanks for the information dude. I was just uneasy about spending £120 on (budget) tyres and then finding the wheels won't fit. I might go and get tyres now then and if the wheels don't end up fitting I'll swap the new tyres onto my old sporting wheels and sell the new ones on or something.
