Is there anywhere I can get a replacement gearchange cable the local garage wanted £300 for the complete system?!

They are expensive. Which cable? (There are 2). Fluffy or scrappy -- I think te main Cinq Sporting cables are the same. Check with ePer.

Its the one to move the gearstick forward and backwards not sideways. I had a quick look around on ebay cant seem to find anything

Do check that the clips are still in place at both ends. Cable failure is very rare unless some hamfisted pillock has been at it.
