higher pressure than id expect to see coming out of the rocker cover.
anyone know how to remedy it im losing quite a lot of oil

cheers pete

wheres a good place to look for rings so i can build my 1242 and put that in. was hoping the 1108 would last a little longer ohwell cheers arc much appreciated.

the 1242 i got was fairly grotty as it had been sat around so im rebuilding the whole lot.
if the head gasket had gone on my 1108 wouldnt i see the typical sludgy mayo in the oil as there is none, and also wouldnt it be fairly smokey?
il compression test it and see what happens thanks again arc

if the head gasket has gone between a combustion chamber and the oil ways, than all you'll see it do is blow smoke / oil mist out of the breather.

compression test it, and if you find one cylinder down when compared to the other, pour a teaspoon oil down the spark plug hole of that cylinder and repeat the test. if it is rings, that will do a temporary fix, long enough to do the test. if the pressure is then the same as the others then it'll be rings. if not, it'll be gasket.

if compression is normal, then, erm, *shrug* lol

On some cars that take to drinking their own oil, I have to remove breather hoses and use oil solvent, replace and get another 10k miles of normal running. Donno why.
