Hi Everyone

OWW has been playing out over the last couple of days...
Its got a 1242 punto engine

The car seems to jerk almost as if it had a power cut out then back to normal, all happens very quickly.

The injector light has been had several times and the cars also stalled on me when idle on 3 occasions.

Recently the car likes to idle at anything up to 2000 revs...

Sometimes revs, when i idle just randomly keep going up and down, anywhere from 1200 to 2000 revs..

car seems to jerk when changing gears (gearbox mount?)

Please remember Im still quite new to technical side of things so plese help in layman terms! lol

Cheers!

Check all the wee vacuum pipes coming from the throttle body are still there, not split, and the one to the MAP sensor by the ECU is not full of cack.

Remove and reconnect all the TB electrical connections

Cheers

Thanks... is it worth replacing the wee pipes anyways?

Hi David

Q

How do you tell when a bowl of spagetti is missing a piece?

Ans

When it is black and it jerks...

Zorro
P.S. good luck s786m

I looked under the bonnet and realised my K&N that sits directly on the TB had fallen off!!! it was a mission getting back on- had to heat the base of the rubber to expand it by a couple of mm so it would fit... any ideas how to get a permenant fix...

any ideas on the high idle?

Did check the pipes. all seemed to be in tact, the map sensor pipe seemed to be clean- havent checked the earths. HT leads havent been touched since service several months ago, and problems have been over last few days...

Next check is the earth, particularly the gear box to chassis one

Cheers

I unmake the parts and scrub every thing with with fine wire brush, until clean, then coat with copper loaded (brake) grease and remake.

The brush wont remove much or any metal, think it is copper wires.

Checking with multi meter way too difficult, do all the battery connectors as well.

Messy job sorry.

lol someone who owned the turbo before me put copper grease on EVERYTHING! I mean even things like the bonnet hinges and latch! touch anything on the car and end up with golden hands:bang:

Just noticed one forward of the radiator header tank on mine, on to inner wing.

Yea it is good at reducing the rate that galling will set in.

But you got to wash your hands before you go to the loo. And people like me that get eczema need to wear rubber gloves, before handling it.

Screw lock on all threads is pretty good an ensuring that they wont gall and is less 'sticky'.
