Hi all!

Thread title pretty much says it all - Where's the best/easiest place to run a switched live from for the stereo? Obvious answer being the ignition, but are there any handy switched live cables that run near the stereo that i can just tap into? Rather than taking half the dash apart!

I put a new head unit in my girlfriends '00(W) Seicento a while back and it drains the battery if it goes unused for a few days. Even with the stereo turned off and the face removed! (n)

The existing "switched live" seems to be more of a permanent live!? Is this right?

I have:
Black - ground
Blue - amp
Red - "switched" live....?
Red w/ green stripe - Permanent live

Thanks in advance.
I'm not a car-noob... i'm just lazy! :D

Ah-ha! But my laziness has paid off! :nerner: I'm such a hypocrite tho... I usually hate people that do that. I did do a quick search of the 'cento forum before I posted but neglected the guides. So apologies as well as thanks.

It never even occurred to me to use the window switches! That's bloomin' genius!! I was just looking for an easier solution than taking the dash apart. The last car I had to fully wire a stereo into was an '88 Mini. There is only one screw holding the steering column together and no real dashboard to work behind.

Cheers Arc.

np mate.

its even more fun wiring a stero into a mk2 fiesta that doesnt even have a DIN space for one!

if it were me, i'd not use scotch locks, or cut the electric window cable. just shave a bit of the insulation off - its quite a high current cable, dont wanna damage its core.
