Hey guys quick question. I seem to have lost my screenwash grr is it ok to put just normal water in? Also the screenwash when you top it up its not connected to the coolant by any chance is it? Im assuming not as you use screenwash for the screen and coolant to cool the car down and they have 2 different expansion tanks. Many thanks

i use water on occasions and emergencies just remember it freezes up should it be a cold night hence why proper stuff is probably better.

coolant and screenwash arent connected

Thanks for the reply mate. Ah il pop in tomorrow and get some im sure water in there is better than nothing i spose (it did run out as i got in home and used them). Its not sposed to drop below freezing here tonight i dont think anyways. Yeah was thinking that was abit stupid to ask in the first place because they have 2 different tanks wasnt thinking at the time lol. Cheers anyways mate

Yes and if the water actually doesent freez in the pipes or spray nossel and actually makes it onto your windscreen which if it is freezing, may very well cause a hazard by suddenly reducing your vision. When you use proper wash make sure it is the right consentration to also avoid the same.

you can not thats the down side to it mate (n) Some people do not polish the car which would provide some protection to the paint work as some screenwash does eat away at the paint/laquer.

The thing NOT to use is washing up liquid, as it contains salts... but having said that, the amount of salt on the roads makes Fairy Liquid look like pure spring water!

Antifreeze should not be used as windscreen washer fluid, as Ethylene Glycol does attack paint.. but pukka windscreen washer fluid contains Propanol (kind of like Meths) and should be okay on most paint..

However, if you run VERY concentrated (like in winter) you can get solids, like water hardness, building up by the nozzle. It's an idea to clean those off regularly as they can stain paint.
