This is going to sound like a pretty chavvy question - so I'm totally prepped for a flaming... here goes:

Is there any way to fit a dump valve to an n/a - if so where would you locate it?
I realise that there would be no performance to be gained from doing so (if it's even possible), but would there be any adverse effects?

Have come across one from a mate, and just thinking of uses before I ebay it...

You can fit it anywhere you want , if you're wanting a turbo 'tish' then it won't work, the reason it makes the sound is because pressurised air is being forced out of a valve. I'm sure you could find something that emulates the sound... badly.

grr I wish they'd correct that wikipedia article... BOV & DVs don't solve the same problem all the time :bang:

you may be better bying a kazoo and blowing it out your window every time you change gear :p

A better option if its for pure chavyness, is to get some metal grinding on the drivetrain, flywheel or somewhere like that, so it sounds like a supercharger whine :p

Not all the time no, but they sound good lol
Dump Valves dump excess pressure to atmosphere, this means if you're feeling radical you consign the wastegate to the bin and use both a BOV for anti-surge & DV for boost control ;)

Or empty the oil from your 'box so it sounds like you've got straight cut gears for a few miles.

or empty the oil out the engine! you will get the power of a turbo for about 30seconds!

*trust me on that oil drag takes away LOADS of power. when i was learning to ride on L plates i had a REALLY old (but quality) honda XL 125. I was out on a ride somewhere going 65ish (full throttle, head down lol) on a duel carriageway. then suddenly it screamed and pulled like a train then about a minute later lost all power.
pulled over to find a small bolt on the engine case had fell out which had pressure behind it from the oil pump so it squirted every bit of oil out the side really quick

well, you COULD in theory do that... get a pressurized container with high-pressure air. Fit a pressure regulator to it (around 2 bar would do IMO). Connect a BOV to that. Fit another solenoid valve in between those and wire it up so it only operates when the revs are falling using a microcontroller board hooked up to the RPM sense signal. Voila!

Anything can be done, it's just the matter if it's worth it :p

yeah... thinking i'll leave this well alone, and just sell it on ebay - should fetch a few quid :D
