Hey there, finaly got round to getting the car running again after changeing the head gasket in the summer :)eek:), been in uni away from home so havent seen it scince the summer. And all is good finaly starts fine and runs ok, misfires ever so slightly but im putting that down to the petrol witch is at least a year old.

The main thing is after its been running for about a minute smoke starts to come from the best that I can see the exhaust sens, lambada? lambda? i dont know how to spell or say it properly but i hope you get what i mean! But smoke appears to be comeing from it. It seams to be in its place properly, havent had time to check as ive been busy with christmas.

The Injector light stays on sometimes when you start it for a short while, so i dont know if it could be picking anything up

Sensor gone? or should i do the obvious and try tightening it?

Thanks

I would leave it. if it ran fine before and you have not touched it, it will be fine. lambda wont die from lack of use.
chances are it will smoke and fart for a bit as the exhaust will be full crap and so will the engine bay (checked nothing has made a home in there?)

I would just check the oil level. put a gallon of fresh fuel and some injector cleaner/octane booster. check water level and start her up. keep it running till its up to temp and see if the fan comes on/feel if the radiator is hot.

should all be good

Had a go at the car today, bled the cooling system and im gona do it again in a muinet as im not shure I did it right, letting her cool down for now.

The smoke dosent seem to be comeing from the sensor, more like under the manifold, thought it might be some spillt oil or something? But there was still smoke comeing from there after a good half houer of running and the car reaching normal temp, could it still be oil on the manifold? As there was a strong burning smell as well. Got a vid as well, the car dosent sound like it dose in the vid, held the phone a bit close.

Sorry about the quality as well

Another thing the car, to me dosent sound as if its running right, and theres a lot of what seems to be water or something comeing from the exhaust. The area behind the exhaust after running it was coverd in water or whatever it was. Got a vid of how it running as well, sorry about the quality again.

Thanks

I wouldn't just tighten the head as there will be fluid contamination on the mating surfaces. These need to be clean, Dry and flat.
I'd get a new gasket as it's not recomended to reuse.
I always smear a very thin film of grease on the metal rings for the cyinders to help bed in when torqing down.

Well the smoke went buy the time i got back to it and ran it for a bit, no more so that was probably some oil id spilt

And i only just noticed i put the same vid up twice, here it is.

If its head gasket its takeing the ****, changed it twice already and the cars not done more tha 2 houers of running and it dosent over heat.

Thanks

Kritips had major problems with his head and decided to replace the engine.
Some times the block itself may have flatness problems but is usualy due to corrosion from continued use of tap water for coolant.
I'd just run the car and see how it goes.

Head gasket is not only an overheating problem. You can get a blow between cylinders too.

Did you get the head pressure tested?

Cheers

PD

Yeah sorry I phrased that wrong, its only been run for about 2 houers scince the head gasket has been changed. And one the one occasion i run it for about 3/4 of an houer it stayed at just below 90.

No didnt get it tested, had it skimmed, ill try and get a compression tester for the week comeing to see if its the case. If the gasked has gone, well tough, i wont see the car for another 3 months so it can stay how it is till easter when theres more light and i might be assed

Thanks
