hi folks.this my first time on fiat forum.so please be gently...! right lets get down to business.i have fiat seicento 1.1 sporting.t reg (1999). with l.p.g convertion and sports air filter...about month ago redone head gasket (followed your guide on forum.)after that the car started to cut out when drive along.with out warning.reves drop.engine cuts out.unable to start.unless unplug crank sencer.then replug back in.on 3rd try of key.it will start back up.until the next time. this has happon on both gas & petrol. i have change crank sencer before you tell me.clean and check distance between sencer and crank wheel.also change sparks,ht leads,petrol filter,clean all earth connections.i found loss connection on alternater earth.i was hopping it was that causing problems.repaired it and check batteryand alternater(12volts & 14.3volts.) still happing...! any idears would be great help.!?

It might be worth trying the original air filter again for a while if you still have it as problem is common to both fuel and lpg.

Is the 'sports filter' an oiled one and perhaps over oiled?

i have had sport air filter on the engine for about 2yrs.near had problem with it.it is oil one.have not oil it...i find it strange that unplug crank senser tempery fix"s the problem.it alouds me to start up engine.i was hopping by replacing the crank sencer with new one.would do it.but the problem still ongoing...tommow i am going to check crank sencer cable.behine engine.where it join up with wires.also could be coil problem ?

Something very odd is happening. Without crank sensor connected the engine should have neither fuel (past injector) or spark!

Check out the sensor again, try running another engine/gearbox to chassis earth lead. I'd not rule out a coil pack issue, though.

hello fingers.thanks for your input.to recap.engine stops .when driving along.no warning.unable to start engine unless i unplug crank sencer.then replug it back in.which now allow me to get going again...change crank sencer.2weeks ago.maybe the new one faulty as well.unable to get under car today.due sick uncle.will investgate more tommow.will try checking earth connections.also i have ordered some coils from ebay...will let you lot know.more when i know more...!

hi folks. found the problem with my seicento.it was earth fault..!some bolts missing from bell housing.join up to engine block for clutch. so when i driven over sleeping policeman or pothole.it probly flex apart temperery.causing earth fault.cutting out engine...nice to have car back which you can drive...my own fault.got nasty habit of using trolly-jack.on that part engine unit,too jack it up.or it could have been when i had clutch replace 2-3years ago.maybe not tighten up probly? any thanks alot helping me out:worship:...like fiat forum.used to fix head gasket and rocker cover gasket.as well as repairing rear windsreen wiper moter...!
