Hi, I've been reading some very useful info on this forum and was wondering if I could I get some much needed advice. I drive a '97 Cinq Sporting, and for the last 2 months I've been driving it sort of stalls momentarily when driving, coinciding with the injector warning light coming on. I noticed that if I eased off on the revs the prob would go away, so I figured that something was on the way out yeh - but chose to ignore. Today tho' it was doing it much more, and then it packed in altogether and I cant start it at all. All the lights come on, however you can't hear the fuel pump whirring like normal as it brings fuel to the top of the engine. It did start after I left it for 20 minutes, but I drove it a mile and it conked out, and I had to leave it on the roadside. Call emergency tow tomorrow.
I am not sure, but does this sound like the lamba sensor, and something else to do with the fuel pump? I did have an issue with the fuel pump a little while ago, where I was changing the front wiper motor and I knocked a fuse that's under the little black box that's just in front of the ECU out of it's position (just in front of two relays) and of course the car wouldn't start since this fuse controls the fuel pump, however I replaced the fuse, then and it started right away, no probs. But this was unrelated to the problem with the fuel pump now since I checked the fuse and it's fine. What else controls the fuel pump? Which of the sensors would govern if the pump operates or not? MOT tomorrow too - good grief !
