over my time on the forum ive realised you can reset the offest by spacers yeah? which would be easier to re-set so to speak...et 22 or et 28?

Sorry -- you can't adjust a clearance which is smaller than the original offset. Think about it -- the higher the et the further in towards the car centreline the inner rim is.

28 is lower than standard, so using 4mm spacers will put it further out (widen the track). As the Irish are said to say, "you're starting from the wrong place.........."

Off set for a cinq S is 27.5, but fiat put 3mm spacers on the cinq sporting whichs gives ET30.5
So if you take away the 3 mm spacers, u will have something really close to et 28.

My guess is the 28s will just fit. For best handling, 3mm spacers (get some off a Sporting in a scrappy or cheap enough from FIAT) on the front only.

mine is a sporting... but esentially if i cant find the wheels i like in et30ish then i could run the et28s without spacers is what your saying yes?

fair enough, its got 14x6 on it atm but i dunno if there with or without spacers, but still goes round fairly well

something which used to confuse the hell outta me with offsets is that you have to take the wheel width into concideration - however:

Depends what you're wanting to do, in terms of chassis dynamics keeping the same offset or running slightly smaller offsets is the way to go, this doesn't require much working out besides adding the right spacers. Unfortunately keeping the standard ET usually results in wheel/body work interaction. You can either adjust the offset (imo the 'bodge' method, however it is simple and relatively cheap) or you modify the body work (the 'correct' method but usually involves a fair amount of cash to sort out)

185/50 yoko's all round, not sure on offset tbh as wheels where on the car when i got it, and it scrapes on the passenger side rear arch iirc
Somewhere on the wheel (usually on the inside) the et will be stamped (I think it's actually a legal requirement in some countries).
