Hiya All fellow Fiat Forum members.

I have a couple of questions I was hoping the techie-minded out there might be able to answer. Bear with me as I know there has been similar questions posted before, but they never seem to answer my questions fully!

I have a set of unusual alloy wheels on my 51 plate Sei sporting. I have attached a pic. My first question is...

...Can anyone identify them for me please?

There is very little in the way of marking on the wheels (see pics) to aid the process I'm afraid :bang:. The reason I stated a similar questions has been asked before is because I am after a new centre cap for these wheels with the black abarth scorpion...but before I can source a couple of these I need to know what wheels I have! The centre caps are 50mm fitment with a 54mm radius on the badge/external part itself. I know you can buy the resin domed stickers to replace but I actually need the centre cap itself as 2 of mine have broken with age! :(

Secondly, I am needing to replace the fuel pump of my 2001 Sei Sporting. Does anyone have an idiots guide out there, or can anyone advise me if this is a straightforward enough job or a fiddly one with any gotchas?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give - any/all assistance gratefully received.

Cheers - rotate243

the alloys look like fox evo alloys with an abarth cap in the middle. A similar set for sale in the classifieds https://www.fiatforum.com/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=11734&cat=17

yours slightly differ from these, so maybe not evos, but maybe a model from the fox stable

The centre cap isnt standard.

Fuel pump is a nightmare im afraid. Can be done but everything is located as one whole system so pump, filter etc all has to be done at the same time and its not the most accessible part either

haynes made a manual for the cinq, i bet it will be very similar (if not the same) process.

There's also the "real" Sei factory service manual. PM me if you want one for less than the price of a pint!

But what makes you think the fuel pump has gone? They seem extraordinarily reliable.

Apropos the 50mm centre caps, there's an Abarth shop on eBay somewhere that does the whole thing, I think. They'll be a standard fitment, I'm pretty sure.

Thanks for all the replies,

Fingers99, I think it is the fuel pump because I had a new tank fitted recently and only since then the car has been running below par. By this I mean it is displaying similar symptoms to other problems around here...

... cutting out when below 1/4 tank full, poor starting, cutting out on dual carriageway when low speed range in high gears. The problems are more frequent when below 1/2 tank and worse when below 1/4 tank. If I reset the ignition the car starts immediately. It used to feel like it did before only intermittently, ie. more performance. This has since stopped completely. It usually cuts out for 5-10 secs then bursts back into life if I have had enough forward momentum to bump start it. Worse at lower speeds almost like being starved of fuel whether mechanically or electronically, I don't know!!??

The garage that fitted the tank had it fitted to there Kryton!? and said all well. The signal was being sent from the crank sensor to the pump, unfortunately they didn't test the pump itself!! I am now self diagnosing.

I guess it could be an ecu fault but this didn't register on their machine. I have tried to reset the crash switch thing under the dash, but to be honest that didn't feel incorrect/as if it had tripped.

Any other ideas from this decription of the faults occuring?

As I said any and all help welcome.(y)

Been rolling about in the back of my car tonight with the wife truning the ignition for me - true love!

Further to my earlier posting the fuel pump does appear to be working as it sounds like it is coming on and priming the engine when the ignition is turned on. :) The relay is working under the bonnet also.

I still have symptoms as described by other sei owners (a la cutting out randomly, hard to start, intermittent problem, loss of power)

I am now leaning towards ECU, sensor failure. Any thoughts? If the ECU was gone would the car start at all? Is it common for a sensor to show intermittent signs before total failure? Can the fuel cut off switch give these types of symptoms?

Still nobody recognise these alloys then? Even Fiat are stumped...they couldn't help me...couldn't even tell me if they were OEM or aftermarket wheels!!?? :bang:

My guess is aftermarket...someone out there must recognise them?!

All help welcome - cheers,

I think they're Borbets. A search on Google for FC50325 turned up a thread from our German colleagues which, translated (badly!) comes out like this:

Guten Tag zusammen. Good day together.
Ich habe das Problem das ich Borbetfelgen habe aber kein Gutachten/ABE. I have this problem but I had no Borbetfelgen opinions / ABE. Ich habe das auch schon beim Hersteller angefragt aber noch keine Antwort bekommen. I have already inquired with the manufacturer but still no answer. Da ich das Gutachten möglichst schnell haben möchte und ich auf diese Seite gestoßen bin dachte ich mir frag doch mal nach. Since I am of the opinion as quickly as possible and I would like to have on this page gestoßen I thought I ask look after. Also kann mir jemand sagen wo ich das Gutachten/ABE für eine Borbetfelge mit der KBA Nummer 42568 größe: 5Jx13H2 ET25 herbekommen könnte? So can someone tell me where I am of the opinion / ABE for a Borbetfelge with the KBA number 42568 size: 5Jx13H2 ET25 herbekommen could? Oder hat jemand so ein Gutachten? Or has someone as an expert opinion? Auf der Felge steht auch noch: FC50325. On the rim is also still FC50325. Danke schon mal. Thank you ever. MFG Ich ;D I MFG; D

Kuck mal direkt bei Borbet Kuck times directly with Borbet
Vielleicht kannst dein Gutachten dort direkt bekommen. Maybe you can get advice directly.
Wenns dort nicht saugen kannst,am besten per Telefon nerven If it can not suck, the best phone annoying

Außerdem ists nicht legal mit ABEs/Gutachten zu dealen :nein: Moreover ists not legally with Abe / opinions on dealer: no:

Das es nicht legal ist wuste ich gar nicht. That is not legal Wust I do not. Dann muss ich wohl warten oder besser noch per Telefin nerven. Then I have to wait or even better by Telefin nerves. Trotzdem danke für den Hinweis. Nevertheless, thanks for the hint.

They are borbet.
I have the 6x14 version, look over to the left
The 5.5x13 version is more common, seen on several puntos. Not sure if they were ever standard fit, but were certainly a fiat dealer fit option wheel.

And I'm pretty sure the standard fiat centre caps are the same, as mine are normal fiat ones

Thanks to all for the Borbet leads, even if I couldn't find any info initially it is all becoming clearer...slowly! (y) Still trying to source caps though...hopefully Borbet themselves will be able to assist on this one.

Also, John, thank for the CD! (y)

Maybe. I can see yellow ones, red ones, red and yellow ones, but black ones only as the stick on type. Good place here.

What I often do is pinch some alfa wheel centres from a breaker, chop them down a bit on aluminium oxide paper and stick the badges on!

Also, John, thank for the CD! (y)

You're welcome!

While I am busy tracking down centre caps for my Borbet's, I have another (Noddy!?) question I'm afraid!!

How would a failed/damaged crank sensor lead to the car losing power (symptoms as if being starved of fuel) when travelling along at speed, only really occuring when below 1/2 tank and noticeably worse when below 1/4 tank of fuel?

I have been searching and reading but cannot find any links between these stats/this scenario!

Thanks in advance for your help - rotate243

It could cause a misfire. I can't see how it would relate to the fuel tank, though.

Then again, unless the fuel pump has been incorrectly fitted, or the tank full of crap, I can't see why the fuel pump would work fine over half full and not under half full. I mean, it's a pump, it just pumps, it shouldn't care how full the tank is.

If your pump has been out, incorrect fitting could explain everything.

Thanks again for the prompt reply fingers99,

But I don't think I put what I was meaning clearly enough! What I was getting at was "can the crank sensor interupt signals to the fuel pump at any stage, enough to stop the pump supplying fuel to the engine?" ie lack of signal/incorrect signal etc at crank sensor?

Cheers

Hi Guys, Nothing like reviving an old post but thought I would give you an update...

I changed the crank sensor to no avail, problem still existed. I changed the Lambda sensor, again to no avail, problem remained. Then I changed the fuel pump for a new one sourced at a good price from eBay and voila. The problem has gone. (y) It turned out the problem was the fuel pump after all.

It did appear to be working when the ignition was switched on and appeared to work fine when the petrol tank was over half full. Now, problem solved and no reccurence. So if anyone gets similar symptoms it could well be the fuel pump after all!

Thanks for all the help and info on this annoying problem!
