new engine ideas

Hi,

I have a seicento abarth (if you can call it that without everyone jumping at me and saying its not a real abarth blah blah blah) however its getting quite old now and i was thinking it could be worth playing around a lil bit with as im going to get another car dor day to day. I was wandaring if anyone cuold suggest a more powerfull engine i could get quite cheap that would fit it with little fuss, Im not after crazy spec but would like it to feel a lot more sporty. Also in the short term i have quite a bad flat spot is there any common problems with the car that could cause this before i start messing with everything i get my hands on lol.

Re: new engine ideas

a punto 60 1.2 engine will drop straight in and use the same management, check the FAQ, in the cinq/sei section there's a thread on engine swaps. where's the flat spot in the rev range?

Re: new engine ideas

ah it doesnt limit until 7200, if you'd held out for that extra 1200rpm... it would've... erm.. made more noise

Re: new engine ideas

our one seemed to hit a brick wall at 6000, compared to slinky and rangie it didn't sound too nice either after 5500. 7200? yeah ours would have made a lot of noise, as the conrods started poking out the side of the block, valves erupted through the bonnet and the crank fell out the bottom!

Valves coming out through the bonnet?

Time to change up, according to James May's test of the 500.

Cheers
