finally recieved my supersprint manifold today for my imola cinq.
come across a problem when i came around to fitting it.
due the cat been on my down pipe the manifold is way way too long
and when i remove it its no where near reaching the centre pipe.
kind of confused here as it said it fitted to original parts.
any advice here asap would be much appreciated.
cheers

ah it was like that when i bought it. rather odd cos both cinq's i own have the cat on the downpipe.. looks like i need to go down to a spares shop and get myself a proper cinq downpipe then?
is the cat on a cinq located on the centre pipe ? i take it i will also need one of these too ?

i have the supersprint manifold ming
thats what was originally on the car. you see where the downpipe mates to the downpipe in that photo? the catalyst is on that pipe that mates to the manifold and runs underneath the sump.
but the supersprint manifold runs right under the sump without the downpipe been attached.
i really am stumped ?

the supersprint manifold does not mate up with the OE system (it lies)

manifold > downpipe & cat > rest of system

the ss system will reach the cat, but the OE downpipe is in the way. Just cut it off.

hey arc.. can you be a little bit more specific as to where to cut etc ?
it would be nice to get it sorted tomorrow while i still have the patience. i have cutting/welding equipment to hand

remove the cat section, fit the manifold, offer up the cat section and see where it needs cutting, then whop that bit off. i've attached picture of mine, which is different because i dont have the knuckle joint - but you get the idea.

the pipe isnt like that anymore on mine though, it has a flexy in there

right so basically at the top of the downpipe with the plate on to bolt it onto the original manifold lob it off from there to size. and the bit with the cat on. slide it over the supersprint. and U clamp it on ?

EDIT: what are rough power gains from the manifold. ive tried searching and not had much joy on finding any figures

I think you may be confusing the flexi section with the cat. Some pics:

The MPI type mani cat attached to the engine

From below:

I'm pretty sure you don't have one of these!

Now, the SPI cat

From underneath and

a fuller view.

You'll almost certainly find that on your new mani the end is a "compensator" -- you've probably only got the first bit -- which replaces the flexi section: I think that's what Arc is calling a knuckle joint. It must be loose enough to move, or you'll get the whole exhaust pulling itself to bits.

nope.. the flexi section is on the centre pipe.. number 2 (the cat ) is on the downpipe

i'm sure my exhaust was flexy and cat all in one bit, it def wasn't like that picture either way!

Never seen one like that!

Any road up, the "real" order should be mani, downpipe, flexi, cat: like that on every SPI I've ever seen, MPI similar except that the cat is in the downpipe.

Any road, looks like you're going to have to move that cat! Where it sits is pretty obvious -- there's like a depression in the floor.

Will see if I can find pics of the set up on Blue (which, turbo downpipe back, is the same).

the cat will still be in the right place, just plumbed in differently!

i've only ever seen a system like mine, wonder if its a seicento setup?

Arc my NA setup was the same and i've never seen one with a flexi before the cat before

This is my spare cat

And looking at fingers set up that looks like a spring joint behind the cat to me

But back to the origional poster problem you have to cut the front pipe as close as you can to the cat and still be able to get a decent seal. The SS new should be supplied with an adapter for this.
