General sei fuel tank

mine went a few months ago, leaking at the seam, got a local garage to fit a new one, didnt know about fiat replacing them foc, do you think id be able to go to fiat and get some compo towards the cost

Before fixing the new tank, you could paint the side, where the 2 fuel-tank-parts are fitted together. There is the problem of the most leaks because of oxidation.

Deffo call fiat HQ 1st. My sei was outside the recall and the did it for free (even though it wasnt leaking at the seam!!!!!). Took a bit of convincing and a few longish phonecalls but its worth it.

why pay for some oxidation paint in a tin when we can get a free tank????????:confused:

i fixed the tank myself cost 80 pound for tank and 2 hour messing about fixing it

im having bother getting a new tank still for my sei, im determined ill get one free!, the local fiat dealer is terrible, basicly said i was imagining the puddles of fuel under the car and the fumes that cause sickness not just to me but to any passenger in the car, smells even evident to passers by, they didnt even look at the car, just left it in the car park while a technician glanced underneath for 10 seconds. was then told to go away and stop wasting their time!, so im in ongoing discussions with fiat uk about the matter of the tank and the dealer.

i did it myself b'cos fiat wouldn't even listen to me when i rung them so i went to see them and they said it nothing to do with them they said they would put a new one in for £250 and i just laughed at them and walked out if they havent got the time for me then i surley wont give them the time of the day

Did you contact FIAT HQ, as I said? Mention the recall?

You have to contact Fiat HQ as fingers said. Your local dealer will just tell you to bring it in if you call them, then do it and charge you (what one of them tried to do to me at 1st). If you call Fiat HQ they will ask for reg number ect and will then log a complaint form or what ever it is. They should then contact FIAT italy, apparently. Then they will call back saying you can do it for free at X garage or one of your choosing.

Well thats what they did for me!

sounds to me like OP couldnt be bothered to do the leg work of contacting fiat or visiting dealers
