parts needed for turbo conversion. any offers?

after a set back with the body shop im now ready to start building my turbo cinq. if anyone has advice on where to get all the parts and what turbo i can use will be a great help or if anyone is selling an engine let me know asap.

are u able to use a garrett t2? i have a manifold adapter for my 1108 engine but it was from the schwitzer s1 turbo it originally had

yes you can use a T2, but you'll need a new manifold that'll fit the T2, and isn't the T2 water cooled - so you'll need to plumb that in as well.

yes the t2 is water cooled, are there any better turbos that dont need cooling by water that will fit? i have a manifold, adapter and downpipe.

you have a manifold, adaptor and downpipe for the S1 turbo.. so that is all that'll fit unless you're going to start customising stuff.

most people use a GT15 turbo, i have two manifolds both intended for use on a GT15 - but only one actually fits the GT15 that i have.

As Arc says, you need to match the turbo to the manifold.

Water cooling is good, but the T2 may be a little too big a turbo (more outright power, but more lag).

There are a lot of GT15s out there in scrappies (fitted to Astra 1.7 diesels and so on).

any particular year on the astras? where would i get a manifold and adapter from now van aaken are out of business? i have tried to get a new schwitzer turbo but they are very hard to come across

i had one made by a local fabrication shop. i just took a stock manifold in, took my turbo in, told them which way i wanted it mounting, and left the van aaken manifold with them as well to get the angle away from the block correct.

Somewhere on the net there's a good guide to what turbo was fitted to what.

You'll either have to fabricate a new manifold or do what VAD did and make one by cutting a stock manifold and welding an adaptor plate to match the turbo onto it.

A fabricated tubular mani is the best way to go, but it won't be cheap.

Don't forget, you could probably get the schwitzer rebuilt: turbos are generally very reconditionable.

Before you choose a turbo to use its a good idea to know how much power you would like in the end are you going for a 1.1 or 1.2? Any head work? Etc im using a t2 i got a power graph up in one of my posts with the spec
