Hi all. Occasionally when I lock my cinquecento sporting from the outside, the car stays locked for a few seconds then all the locks jump back up again!

I have returned to my unlocked car before after parking it all day in town... a bit worrying!

Does anyone have any idea what is making it do this? Maybe the central locking relay?

Thanks ;)

My central locking didnt used to work properly... wouldnt lock/ unlock and it was due to a bad earth :)

Not sure if we've got the same problem though...

Umm its under the bonnet?

I dont know sorry i just know thats what was wrong with mine when mine was dodgy. :)

if you sort it, can you let me know how. My central locking is really slow sometimes.. i open the drivers door and it wont actually open the other locks for a few seconds.

That was what was wrong with mine arc. Sometimes it was slow and sometimes it just unlocked the door i was opening :(

But the earth thing fixed mine?

Oh and sometimes my CL clicked as i was driving randomle which got quite annoying after a while, it was like it was trying to lock but it couldnt quite do it? But if you locked yourself in the car then it stopped it.:)

Oh and also whenever i used anything electrical... window wiper/ fans etc the CL would click.. very weird :)

Right here goes. The motors in the front doors both have actuators on them. This basically means if you lock from either side when the motor moves down the actuator tells the other motor too move down and lock the other door. What tends too happen is the linkage between the motor and the lock is too short. The motor builds up momentum goes all the way down and bounces back up a little. The bounce is just enough for the actuator too tell the motors too move back up.
Too solve it strip the door almost certainly the driver side. Take the linkage with a slight Z bend in it that goes between the motor and the lock. Remove the Z bend with pliers by straightening it and put it all back together. This stops the motor bouncing up and keeps the doors locked.
Hope this helps and keeps the swear box empty.

I was having the same problem & took motorworldchinks advice and straightening the linkage has sorted my central locking out nicely.

Cheers, MotorWorldChink ;)
