Hi all, the time has come for me to begin a project:slayer:. Have been recently ploughing through owners clubs forums to get an idea of whats out there, and come across the cinquecento:), im after a cheapish one and has to be sporting as im going to put the 1.2 spi engine in there:devil::devil:. was also wondering how much i am looking at spending on one of these engines. plus is there parts available for this engine such as cams filters and other various runing parts. for the conversion will i need to adapt the ECU in any way?:bang:

Thanks Charlie(y)

Hi mate, welcome to FF. This is a question that the forum gets all the time; if you have a search and look through the Guides section, you should find the answers pretty easily :)

You can run a 1242 spi off a 1108 spi ecu. Ebays a good place to look for mk1 engines (has to be punto MK1 - MK2s are MPI and have different mounting points.) They often go for around £100 if your patient.

In terms of tuning it, manifolds are available, plenty of different induction kits, the camshaft from a punto 75 engine will give you a small gain, tricker throttle bodies open the inlet from 32mm to 40mm, and the mckritch chip for the 1108 engines will run the 1242 with a little extra gain aswell. very helpful! so only a mk1 punto engine. whats this im reading about spacers for the inlet? does anyone have any pics im confused!

your too fast i was just getting a quote, ill post it anywho:

"The exhaust won't fit. You need to either have the front pipe cut and extended by 15mm to get it on, or make a spacer to go between the front pipe and manifold. If you do this, you will also need longer bolts or studs fitting to the manifold to connect it all up.
You can either use the flange cut from an old front pipe, or have one made up. If you have access to facilities, it's not difficult to do - use a gasket as a template. Alternatively, an engineering shop may make you one up."

thats what im on about.

would it not be easyer to just use a mk1 engine, or does the hybrid engine give more power? but then you have to buy two engine and mess about! :bang:

Yes all 8v fire heads and compatible with 8v fire blocks. You can fit a 55/60 or 75 head to that block.

If its a cinq, you could use your existing sporting head on the block and then retain the cinq inlet manifold/throttle body etc.

The conversion is there on the same process as the 60 engine.
