Yes more rear bush hassles!!!

Yes i'm another one sticking powerflex's in, but my main trouble is i cant even get the arm off! I've tried for the past 3 evenings with putting plusgas and wd40 on the bolts, both sides, but absolutly nothing!

Just checking, is the nut welded to the arm and then you should just undo the bolt from the other side?

I'm starting to consider putting the rest of it back together and leaving it, cant really afford to pay someone to fit them. Anyone fancy heading up to my driveway and giving it a tug? ...free beer! lol

Yes, but I managed to 'undo' the nut with a long breaker bar and this took care of the weld

Re: Yes more rear bush hassles!!!

First off WD40 will get you almost no were, you need proper penetrating oil, drown the nuts in the stuff the day before then unbolt the bolt not the nut.

I used a long arm 1/2" drive ratchet with decent sockets & the bolts were very hot to handle straight after they came out.

Re: Yes more rear bush hassles!!!

Of which bolt and nut do you talk?

The two bolts which hold the arm on have nylock bolts -- they are not welded on (at least, on later cars) -- you can't weld nylocks cos the nylon melts!

The shocker nuts are welded on: the trick is to counterhold the nut, while going at the bolt. If the bolt is seized on to the sleeve, the shock is probably scrap.

For the big bolts holding the arm on, 2 breaker bars (or some scaffold tube over the wrenches) will almost always do it. Failing that, the heat spanner always does it.

Re: Yes more rear bush hassles!!!

Got it!!! Soaked it again in plusgas then managed to find a nice big pole to use as a breaker bar and finally i heard the crack as the bolt released! The bolts are nylocks not welded, will have to go and find some new ones now!

Thanks guys

Jamie
