Hi all,

My sister in laws seicento has a problem, when you put the key in the ignition and turn to on posistion just before engine start, when you turn on the indicator the dash dims and a buzzing sound like an electrical short is heard with a fuel management display, this has caused the engine to cut out twice during driving, if you turn off and then turn back on it corrects itself.

Has anyone any ideas?

I have charged the battery and checked the earth points for corrosion but nothing?

Not sure whether related but there appears to be a small amount of oil? on the side of the head not sure if coming from the gasket.

Thankyou all

Phil

With engine probably normal, but as not my car??? it's on the elctronic display on startup.

It's not like a pump priming, all the dash lights flicker at a high pace and sounds like electric arcing / buzzing when indicator turned on, however indicator doesn't fuction during this. definatly not normal maybe faulty ignition barrel conection?

Cheers, I'll give it a go, if it cures problem by having this lead, where do I look for fault, I have cleaned up 3 earth points under bonnet should I just follow these and clean other ends up or replace or is there more than 3?

Thanks for your quick reply.

Hi, Just did the jump lead test, still a problem I will have the bumper off and check earth there,

FPS ON comes on when you go to start and while driving it cuts out, gauges go up and down every so often and Air bag and power steering lights come on, would you say this is an earth fault.

Cheers

Could be an earth fault, or another electrical fault. FPS rings a bell. OK, it's a Sei, it would not be a citymatic by any chance?

hmmm. the eletrical short noise, does it sound like the indicator click but speeded up by a million times,

-if you hold it at a certain point between indicator and high beam it makes this noise-

just wondering might help diagnose.
