Have a 1997 cinq sporting. front wipers went on me, then back wipers went too. checked fuses and front was blown. changed that and washers came back but no wipers front or rear. there is some slight melting of the little electronic contact thing on the boot panel. Any Ideas?

Try cleaning up the contact.

But it's possible the stalks or the wiring to them have bitten the dust.

Disconnect the arm from the front wiper motor and try it. Also try moving the arm manually. I have seen seized spindles.

If seized, drop them out and lubricate.

I did remove the front wipers and lubricated them. I moved them around manually afterwards and they move reasonably easily. Would the front wipers be affected by a bad contact to the rear wipers?

i reckon its a connection problem though.

Do you have the Sei stalks or the Cinq ones? I can't see a connection between the two, and the fact that you have some melted plastic indicates something has got hot that shouldn't have.

If you have no movement from the motor, check for a supply, then, if thats OK, put an additional earth in.
