hi, i have been looking in the FAQ's and found that you can fit a punto 55 gearbox to my 1999 mk1 seicento. however the final drive isnt as good?

what i basicly want is a ratio that is more helpful for top speed.

so is there a 6 speed box that can do this? or any way to upgrade my 5 speed to do this?

any help is greatly apreciated

ive only ever got 6500rpm in 5th. that was 105 on clock.

however im not looking for anything faster really. i really ment a higher cruise speed. so at 3500rpm it would be doing 70/75 instead of 60.

Slipping clutch?

What you want is probably possible by using a 6 speed box and increasing the overall ratio, but it isn't easy.

I always found that the big issue with NA 1100s was that some chump in a BWM yould pop out in front of you at 80, you'd have to slow, and when you came to accelerate you'd have the choice of buzzing it in 4th or lumbering up to 90 again in 5th: there was no torque there at all, either way. So, for me, overgeared in top.

Well i can tell you the 6speed is no good for what your trying to do, it will infact lower the top end as its a close ratio box. I was thinking about putting one on my turbo cinq but having driven a punto with the 6 speed box its defo a no no.

To be honest mate, the revs at 4250 is no biggy, you still get good mpg, if its noise your bothered by invest in some sound deadening and plaster the inside of the car in it.
