Re: Wow who owns this?

I totally agree, Clarksons good, bad and ugly proved that with the Exige S racing the american mustang. Loved that.

Re: Wow who owns this?

The good things about the UT conversion is that it's a strong old motor. Bad things are that it's a very heavy lump of iron and puts weight in front of the front axle in a Cento. There's no real way of dialling out that kind of inherent understeer.

If it finds the right owner, maybe £3,000. But like any special with known issues, there are not that many right owners out there. And the Abarth 500SS will be faster and handle better.

exactly
i once watched a 90bhp tuned 1.4 fiesta on coilovers,cage,anti-roll bars etc,,,,it had the works and it set lap times faster than a focus ST,and some silly power cossy's!

just shows (with the right driver of course)

Re: Wow who owns this?

Yeah, I was talking about handling with a friend the other day. I love physics, all the talk about friction, under and oversteer. There's nothing better than pushing a car round a bend fast, having it stick to the road.

My brothers clio hillpower was a 1.8 with 175bhp, lots and lots of mods. It handled unbelievably and he got it round a large roundabout with it squealing at about 90mph.

yes i to like the pyhsics involved in how a car handles,,,alot of people dont realize how much more there is to now about it!
seen alot of people talking about giving loads negative camber lowering it right to the floor and sticking the shockers to maxuim stiffnes!! its not that simple haha

Re: Wow who owns this?

I really want to learn more about car tuning. I'm only taking baby steps but ever since I was a kid my brother has pushed me to learn about cars as he's really really into them as you may've seen the car list of his I posted. He really did have all of those cars heh.

Physics is important, and pretty exciting given the chance, camber is weird, isn't it to do with the angle that the wheels are at? so the tyre can be as flat against the road as you want when cornering or set up for driving straight out?

Luke.

yes spot on
as you look at the wheel from the front of the car its the angel of the wheel against the road surface i.e negative camber were the wheel is slighty inat the top and out at the bottom this brings the wheel flat against the road when cornering hard, alot of cars have slight negative camber from the factory for this reason,,,,it does tyre wear no goof though haha

Re: Wow who owns this?

Yeah, so I guess the larger the negative camber the better grip you get when cornering at larger G-Forces/speeds.

Gotta love the help that Forza 2 brings, I tune my cars so much on there =D

Luke.

not exactly but yes in most cases, there is a limit for this because straight line grip would be terrible if the camber was set to far,
i had coilovers on my N/A cinq at one time but they where just to much for the road,,,,,coulnt go near a bump haha.
i sold them on as they were stupidly exspensive too! shame id wanted them for ages

Re: Wow who owns this?

Yeah I bet, I guess the only things in store for my sei are a set of springs, GSR, chip, stainless manifold and a possible exhaust system. Been told the manifold needs a full exhaust system. But what do you expect with a kid without much money eh. Should make it a bit more nippy and decent bit of handling, ooo yeah, strut brace for the engine bay =)

Luke.

Re: Wow who owns this?

I'm not sure what the limiter on the sei is, i'm sure it's the same as the cinq. I do have a tendancy to rev it hard. Lots of fun against my mates saxo 1.1

not that i want to go around racing saxo's but just out of interest which is quickest? (honest opinion) as they both have simalar power and the cinq/sei way a little less.
and what i ment is that the powerband on my N/A seems to be higher up with the mods that have been carried out say from 4500rpm upwards, not nessaserly hitting the redline all the time

Re: Wow who owns this?

The sei is really quick into corners and brakes quite well. They're pretty even, but the sei is better on acceleration and does beat it =) Mine's due for a service but does well against my mates clio 1.2 as well. It's a newer shape one so weighs about 80 kilos lighter, my buddy is heavier than me too heh. Mine shorts out by about 6bhp, but much faster to 60 than both cars.
