Boot opening pull??

Currently considering buying a sei. I went to see what yesterday which was pretty good except the boot release pull next to the driver seat did operate. The actual handle moved but didn't pop the bootlid. Firstly, anyone know whats likely to be up with it?? And secondly is it much of a job to fix?? Not too bothered if I can fix it if I buy the car, also gives me something to use against the seller to knock a few £££ off :p

Cheers

Matt

dont laugh, but did u check to see if boot was closed to begin with[?]

it depends where its actually gone, the handle end or in the boot mechanism, its not that hard too fix, ive never had to do it myself but i would imagine, you would just need paitence to fix it

I had to do this to mine. The boot mechanism end wasn't working. Open the boot with the key then pull handle up from the inside and wedge something underneath it. Then go and have a look at the lock, see if the release pin (car body side) has moved. If it has then the problem is at the boot end, if not the problem is at the handle end. I don't know how to fix the handle end but the boot end will either be a snapped release pin (scrappy job) or the pin may just need to be bent back into place slightly as it has moved over time. Hope this helps.

lol, the boot was defo shut, the blke at the garage said summit like "erm....i think that may not work" when i asked about it. It's not a major problem, wouldn't stop me from buying it!! Just it would be nice if i get it to have it all working properly again! :)
