Bizarre overheating issues?

Hi guys, I have Sciecento ,which seems to run VERY warm have changed thermostat ans sensor on 'stat ,have also bridged the fan but STILL the temp light fades in and out bright on idle fades at 50 mph + ???? Is there another sensor?? conected to the light , water in expansion tank is warm but NOT boiling up and I have HOT water coming out of bleed valves and ALL hoses VERY HOT ???THOUGHTS fan never kicked in on own? so is it TOO hot??

yes fan works fim=ne when a paper clip used to bridge the radiator connection

I am guessing SPI as the MPi takes its fan signal from the ECU. I wonder whether this is another case of the srong sensor in the head.
