Good initial setup? your thoughts

I have not even got the car yet but I am planning ahead already lol this is going to be more than likely be a Sei sporting but could be a Cinq just depends whats up for sale in a few weeks.

Initial plans are to sort the suspension and brakes out first, suspension wise going to get upper and lower braces, but as for suspension you guys got any recomendations? ideally a 30-40mm drop would do me but I am going to get shocks aswell. Moving onto brakes are the discs solid as standard or vented? any upgrades?

As for the engine I have plans for that involving a turbo which I have already done the research on thanks to the threads on here

Re: Good initial setup? your thoughts

You can put bigger brakes on the front, and do the rear disc brake conversion (both of those are in the FAQ's) and the standard cinq(must be the same for the sei) brakes are solid discs on the front 240mm iirc and drums on the back.

dont know about the suspension.

good luck with the car search!

Re: Good initial setup? your thoughts

Forget the lower brace if you are going to lower the car they are more trouble than they are worth

If you go for the big brake upgrade you will need bigger wheels although you can fit an Uno turbo set that are vented with std wheels

Lowering -30mm is a good compomise and tbo is the way the car should have left the factory most sets settle a bit so my -30mm is more like -40 now get matched springs and dampers

Also if it is an SPI model stick in a Mckrich ECU chip it is the best 50 quid you'll ever spend on the car.

There is loads of stuff in the FAQ check them out

Re: Good initial setup? your thoughts

For brakes, the Punto GT conversion is probably the best (and will allow for further upgrades). Alfa 155 disks. You'll need 14" wheels, so go for 6J and run Uniroyal Rainsports in 195/45/14. They're very cheap and really suit the car. Lots of stuff on this in the FAQs.

The rear disk conversion looks good, avoids most of the handbrake issues, but doesn't help the braking.

The McRich is fine, but if you're going to a turbo, don't bother. It has way too much ignition advance.

Thumbs up Re: Good initial setup? your thoughts

Although the rear conversion does look to have the advantage of avoiding the rear lock up you can get with poorly maintained Cento drums under emergency braking that's not in a straight line :-)
