Hi All,

Bought a 1999 Fiat seicento last week, the previous owner was claiming it had a head gasket problem - this may still be the case.

However, the emissions are fine and in general, there are no signs of a problem, apart from the water warning light coming on. The thermostat, radiator, pipes are all fine.

Anyone had similar problems? Anyone have a clue whats wrong? Garages are telling me different things, one telling me the head gasket has gone, the other telling me there is air in the engine coolant. I drove the car 100 miles home and the water wasnt that hot to be fair, and I have bleed the water, there is no air in it at al., I dont know what to believe! :bang:

Does the car have an OBD port anywhere?

Thanks, and heres to happy posting!

Ben

Hi, Yes the water is overboiling, as we found today, this was after around 10 minutes - strange as its never done it before. The switch has been found to be faulty today and is being replaced, but no real reason foud why the water is boiling. The radiator is also fine, thanks for the reply :)

If it was a year or two newer it would have OBD port, but I think your out of luck. Worth a quick check anyway. It's in drivers foot well, up near the fuse box, and bonnet pull. It's got a little cover over it, that you flip out the way.
