Cinq engine swap

I have a 899cc Cinq which i have already got a Cinq Sporting engine ready to be fitted into it.
But would i be better off selling the sporting engine and gtting a 1242cc engine?

fitting the 1108cc into a s/sx cinq isnt that easy (you need to replace the whole wiring loom, ecu etc from what i remeber)

for all that work, you may as well whack a 1242 in there

Cinq Sporting - and yes, its broom yellow!

You will also need the following parts froma Sporting
Gearbox, linkage and shafts; Exhaust manifold and pipe.

To put a 1242 in you will need the above parts, plus a spacer for the exhaust. If you are going to all that troublem, and I have already done it, then add the 1242, which I didn't.

Cheers

Thats the thing i have a Cinq Ssporting sitting in the Garage ready to be raped of all its parts.
Maybe if i can sell the engine and bits i`ll go for the Punto engine.
My mates got one that put out 85BHP on the rollers but he only got the engine now as he fitted a Punto Turbo in his.
Think his was a Punto 75 will that fit?

The punto 75 engine has a slightly hotter cam and is mpi. Its still 8v tho.

The head wont fit in to the cinq, you'll need the head off your 1108cc engine. Having the cam from a punto75 engine is quite useful tho.

1242 16v, now you're talking lots'a'modding. But i guess if you're going to swap the 899 for a 1108/1242 and you're changing ecu/loom anyway.. Its possible, but not what you'd call easy.

Have a look around there, theres a few 1242 16v seis on there.

1242 16v is hard to do - it can be done, but for the amount of time and effort and cash it takes there are better ways of making the Cinq go faster.
If you are gonna rip it all out and turn it into a Sporting base - then whilst you are doing that it would almost be silly not to put an 1242 8v in it.
But if you want more power then if you have a Sporting base there is always the option of Turbocharging.
1108 - Van Aaken Kit from them (low boost - simple)
1242 - + VAd Kit (low boost - more work)
1108 High Boost (from me :p drop it straight in)
Could even turn a 1242 Turbo into high boost - but it is a fair bit of work and expense.
It all comes down to what you prefer and how much you have to spend.
