Have just got an S reg sporting 31000 mls.(no sevice history:()
I have a few questions about it.
After @ 5 miles the temprature light glows very dimly(cannot see it in daylight).I have grounded the connector and the light is bright.I am hoping this is a sensor/earthing issue.
I intend to change the cambelt/tensioner/waterpump soon.
The brakes seem to be a bit vauge at first although with more pressure they do work.
There is no parcel shelf and there seems to be quite a lot of road noise from the back.
Anything else that I should be checking/replacing ?
Thanks

Sounds a reasonable reason. Check that the fan is working at full speed by inserting a paperclip in the sender plug. The clip should not glow red when the fan is running.

I intend to change the cambelt/tensioner/waterpump soon.

Sensible course of action, remember to bleed the cooling system when reassembling

The brakes seem to be a bit vauge at first although with more pressure they do work.

Check the rear brakes, they are known for being a bit pants. Also check the bearings as wobbles there can lead to wooly brakes, see below.

There is no parcel shelf and there seems to be quite a lot of road noise from the back.

There is not much insulation back there, but check the rear brakes and bearings.

Fuel filter, its under the car in the middle and is often ignored. Oil and filter, they run much better on the correct grade of fresh oil.

Common sense on everything else.

Yup 10/40 is spot on.
