revival of the orange wheel wonder

its going to be a slow progressive thread but i will eventually get there

for the people that dont know the orange wheel wonder it use to belong to helen (jaffy). during her owning it, some one scratched every panel .
i haver sinced purchased it off her with the hope of getting it back to life.

a general pic first

[IMG][/IMG]

first thing i did was cover all the scratches in grease. i know the bodys are galvanised but its better to be safe than sorry.

the bumper has a lot of cracks in it as well as one of the supporting brackets broke. i took the front bumper off ready fibreglass, took me a while though as all the wheels have locking nuts and i havent got the key

Bumperless
[IMG][/IMG]

ready for work to start on it and my 2 other projects lol
[IMG][/IMG]

then i moved on to the huge task of cleaning it. inside was a state, i mean big time.

the rear wasnt too bad - some wierd green stuff was all over the boot though
[IMG][/IMG]

then a pic of the front after i had cleaned it- forgot to get a before pic. still needs a lot of work but its getting there

[IMG][/IMG]

took me about an hour and half to just clean inside to the state it is now

next to do - clean the seats and the carpet

Nice to see it being revived, was a very nice sei!!

I'm assuming the issue with the wheel falling off is fully sorted out now?

not 100% sure, the bolts still look the normal size. will do a big of measuring and go from there with the results. think longer bolts are in mind though with the issues jaffy had, unless she tells me otherwise.

Re: revival of the orange wheel wonder

Instead of repairing the front bumper that sounds as it it's in rather a bad shape, why not find and fit a genuine Abarth bumper instead? You could also fit a standard bonnet and in the process stop it from looking like an angry black snow plough

yes it is in bad shape, but with a bit of work it will be fine hopefully. if i fit genuine stuff then i wouldnt be the orange wheel wonder, it would be a normal sei and thats not right

I agree about the one-off bumper looking OK, am from Cov' myself so I look forward to seeing you around.

I've now got a full set of normal length wheel bolts (not locking) spare if you need them to try out once you get the wheels off.

Re: revival of the orange wheel wonder

Can't believe there can be that many issues with the wheels, what spec are they or you not sure?

It looks very low Think thats down to the bumper though, which i agree should stay, makes it look unique!

Re: revival of the orange wheel wonder

i thought one wheel fell off because the bolts were not long enough, and then the garage just farted about for ages because they didn't know what to do? Its why you don't take cars to garages tbh.

Do not change anything on this car styling wise, it's perfect. Just put a bigger engine in it

Re: revival of the orange wheel wonder

Angry really does sum it up: that car just looks plain pissed off!

Wonder how it would look in matt black (or scotchbrited after the keying was filled in with a brush)?!

Put HIDs on that and even the Audis will get out of the way on the motorway!
