Re: Need Help With Rear Wheel Bearings!!

The bearings are nice and easy to do

Unfortunately it does mean replacing the whole hub but that makes it even easier..

Get yourself on www.shop4parts.co.uk (or local fiat dealer) for this:

Rear Hub Complete
All Models
Part Number: S4P635
Manufacturer: European

Listed Price: £44.88
Our Price: £31.42
You Save: £13.46 (30%)
Please note that All Prices Exclude VAT.

Then remove wheel undo hubnut (possibly at 32mm but check ) You will prob need a breaker bar or torque wrench...

Remove old hub replace with new hub.. the do up using NEW hubnut upto the correct torque setting.. I also tend to use a punch to knock the edge of the nut in as well

HTH

I did this job...start to finish in 10mins

Will take longer if you dont have a good tool to remove the hub nut, or if the inner race is seized to the axle

Re: Need Help With Rear Wheel Bearings!!

if you havent got a pulling tool to remove the hub, after you take off the drum and hub nut whilst jacked up put the wheel back on with a couple of wheel nuts diagonally loosely then you can give the wheel a good yank till it comes off.

Re: Need Help With Rear Wheel Bearings!!

Theres a guide on this job, when i did mine the hub just slid off the shaft, I was expecting it to be hard to do, hardest part is undoing the hub nut, make sure the car is very secure beforehand, I used an old torque wrench to undo it.

My personal weapon of choice is a 1000mm or 1200mm breaker bar, relatively expensive to buy but very useful for this kind of thing. I'd also use an impact socket rather than a normal socket for this job.

18"/450mm Breaker bar and 1m length of 40mmx40mmx1mm square stock FTW

Give that some aggro and it comes off easily. Does get rather scary when the breaker bar starts bending elastically though.

what about when the end snaps offsome are only held in with a bolt or pin, they'll go before the bar snaps seen it happen when using scaffolding tubes, the guy always goes flying

That's cos they is doing it all wrong. Once the breaker bar starts to bend, just hold it at that position. You have applied the maximum torque. Eventually the nut or bolt will start to turn.

Cheers
