Overheating - How do you remove the Thermostat!!

Hi guys,

My car has been over heating , I initially thought it was the fan switch and changed it but its still overheating.

I think the problem must be the thermostat, because as the car is running the thermostat gets very hot but the pipes goig into the radiator, and the radiator itself remain relatively cool.

If my assumption is right and it is the thermostat - I need to remove it. Im having a bit of a problem removing it from the pipe! I can remove it from the cylinder head without any problem but how do i remove it from the piping? There is a weird kind of jubilee clip with a plastic bit holding it in place and I dont want to damage anything! So I guess Im asking, do you think my problem is the thermostat and how do i remove it from the pipe!?

Thanks in advance, this board is great.

Hi guys,

Am at my wits end. I have changed the fan switch and the thermostat, plenty of coolant in the car as well. Yet the damn thing is still over heating.

The fan does not switch on at all no matter what the temprature, however there is nothing wrong with the fan as it works fine if i put a 12 volt battery across it to test it. Also the weird thing is that the pipe leading from the cylinder head and thermostat is hot, however the pipe going out of the radiator does not get hot when the car is over heationg, and the radiator is also not hot.

Acn anyone please please help!

thanks

Blockage?

Disconect the rad to block hoses, drain the coolant and flush the rad forwards (top to bottom) and the block forwards (top to bottom). If the rad water doesnt run clean, ,flush it backwards!
