L reg Cinq 900cc, 74k miles

NGK website says BPR6E or alternative BPR6ES.

I won a Haynes manual on eBay but have not yet received it so can anybody tell me what plugs Fiat / Haynes recommend?

Either will be fine. The only difference is the last letter, the S stands for 'Standard copper centre electrode'. And the general rule is if no letter is stated then its 'standard' and as the S stands for 'standard' then you can use either.

Although spark-plugs.co.uk do list both types, the ES is about 20p more expensive than the E

Ta' for the info. There's 2 auto spares shops near me - one has BPR6E ('v' grooved / supposed to give more mpg) at £10 for 4. The the other shop has BPR6ES (colder plug) at £6.76 for 4 inc vat. Think I'll go for the cheaper if it makes no real difference. I'll put a new air filter in too (£4.99)
 
You will struggle to tell any difference in MPG with V electrode plugs. And the other plug is not colder, the heat range is given by the number 6 and its the same in both plugs. So the person that told you that is wrong.

But I would do the same as you and get the cheapest of the two, there will be no realistic difference between them.
 
Thanks for the reassurance. The temperature issue came from a seemingly informative website! Just goes to show we can't trust everyone, but with help from members such as yourself I'm allready several quids in (see Injector Warning Thread). Have a nice Christmas.
 
Avoid the V groove ones. I tried the nipon denso version in a bike and kept getting carbon jamed in the plugs groove and lost spark.
 
I'll been using the V groove one for a few years now, and they done thier job well :D. My bro get them for me about 5 quid for 4 !!

So both type of plugs are equivalent ? Like to try the copper cores one next time !
