Brighter interior courtesy light replacement and clock troubles

Hi there y'all.

I'm thinking of getting one of these to replace the courtesy light bulb as the stock bulb is very dim by my reckoning.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/INTERIOR-LIGHT...QQcmdZViewItem

Has anyone tried this or something similar? What have people found?

Also, the clock in my cinq has stopped working. I heard that this can be a sign that the battery is failing. I'm borrowing a multimeter from my boss soon so I can check what's going on there, but has anyone else got any ideas... or spare clocks?

if the battery is failing to that extent the car wont start.....

those LED lights look bright but dont have much range (if that makes sence)

When you say the clock is not working, is it completely blank, has it changed to all zeros, or is it very faint.

Cheers

Re: Brighter interior courtesy light replacement and clock troubles

At first the light behind the clock stopped working but now it doesn't display anything. I'll post the battery readings when I get hold of that multimeter.

I understand about the 'range' thing you're talking about, Andy. Has anyone found a way to light their interior better than the stock light? Reading maps this winter could be frustrating with the poor lighting.

Fit a map light? Its much better for your night vision if its focused.

Check the bulb in the clock first.

Cheers

I've got a "white" one, which shines a very light blue, localised, the bulb is bright but there's no throw to it.

As above. Very little spread, but cool looking.

Fora brightter interior you're better off getting a higher wattage std bulb.

Re: Brighter interior courtesy light replacement and clock troubles

So it looks like I'm looking for a dedicated map reading light. Is there an official/popular replacement for the standard light?

If you want to keep the light in the same place see Arc's post(s) re LED replacements.

If you want a dedicated map reading light, then you should place this above your shoulder so the the light is pointing at the map, not in your face. These can easily be mounted with a couple of self tappers to the roof rail.

Cheers
