Help the central locking on my 96 Chinky Sporting has stopped working. ;) All was well but the car would unlock itself randomly just after I locked it. I just locked it again and thought no more about it. Today I locked it, it unlocked by itself so I locked it again and it unlocked again, I tried a third time an nothing. I can still lock the car manually but I want to get the central locking back online. Can anybody tell me where to start [?]

Good one Gaz, went out and opened then shut all 3 doors again and normal service is returned. :D Thanks Mate.
Gotta love this forum, I read how to wire up and amp and sub here, did that yesterday. Problem with the central locking fixed in 10 mins, cool.
Just out of interest how much is a new CL unit, in fact what are Fiat parts like for price in general as I have several trim pieces to get. I am guessing they will be cheaper than bits for my Saab.

Cheers Rob

the parts vary, take body panels for instant. when my sei needed a new bonnet, one of fiat was about £150-200, I got a look-a-like that fitted the same for £70, so look around.

Parts dire from fiat are always going to be expensive

Right oh, I have to look for a scrappy breaking a black chinky then.
I am missing the little red oblong trip for the passenger side of the front bumper. I am guessing that this bit goes walkabout quite often as I have seen pictures of several cars with that trim missing. I am also looking for the little black Fiat badges for the standard alloy wheels. Nothing really important just bugging me a little.

Cheers Rob

re the Central locking - if one or more of the front door lock motors are worn it can cause the problems you are having. If the problem comes back, try unlocking and locking the car with the key - if it works ok from one side but not the other, then the side that doesn't cause the problem is the side with the dodgy motor.

Sorry if that sounds a bit confusing!

and btw, the Sportings only came with one air intake bit attached, on the drivers side.

Pete.

Thanks for that Pete, the chinky actually belongs to my wife and she has been bugging me about the trim, so I am going to print this out and show it to her [8D]
I must admit to being impressed with her subwoofer I fitted over the weekend, I am going to have to have one in my car:D
