Keeping the Sei...

Well my Seicento Sporting was on the for sale Market, however i have decided to keep her. Mainly cause i've just had to spend a fortune on her, but also because i love her! lol

Basically i recieved a recall letter telling me to book my car and any early model Seicento's in for an appointment with fiat regarding the fuel tank. Basically it's producing too many emissions and in some cases it's corroding. Did anyone else recieve this letter? It's all on warranty and my new fuel tank should be fitted Friday!

However yesterday Fiat also picked up a few other issues with the car. Basically the hanbrake was fooked! (However i hear this is a common thing with Cento's?), They replaced the drivers window Seal, and fixed the non-working front washer jets as apparently it's a illegal if they're not working? They were probarly trying to con money out of me as they're a dealers!

Anyways they fixed all that but i was also told the front shock is leaking, and the rear passenger wheel the thread has come off one of the hub, stud things so it's only being held on with 3 bolts instead of 4 and i've been warned this is dangerous and the car shouldn't be driven? I think i'll take the car to a private garage this time though! I need to get a drivers side window and get it fitted at some point aswel!

All these pennies!

Anyways, on the bright side i've just recieved some xenon style headlight and side light bulbs!

May the fun begin

Fuek tank problem well known as it handbrake.

Having 3 bolts instead of 4 is pretty dangerous and definately not recommended!

I would be down the scrappies if i were you trying to get one, i would only drive short distances if necessary and definately not motorway! That wheels chances of flying off are severely increased

Re: Keeping the Sei...

Yeah I think i'll get the rear passenger wheel situation sorted first. My partner can get trade price from Fiat for the parts, and then i'll take it to a private garage? I don't want to be charged loads again

Re: Keeping the Sei...

if the threads gone in the hub then you need a new hub.
looking at around £20-30 for the part.
very easy job to do apart from undoing the centre hub nut which is uber torqued.
last time i didnt have my breaker bar i got the local tyre place to break the seal on the nut then drove it home ot remove

You know she's worth the money

Repairs are always bad news though - never seems so hard to spend money on mods, but the moment a repair rears it's ugly head it feels like your being robbed

Re: Keeping the Sei...

Hubs a nice easy fix bet you know a guy who can do it

Wouldn't worry that much about just 3wheel bolts... I survived about 1500miles

Surely Rob can wait to get his hands back on a Cento after owning a German car

Re: Keeping the Sei...

He keeps going on about getting another Cinq as a run around! But when i ask him to help me with my Cento, he's more interested on working on his Lupo Although saying that he's fitting my bulbs and buffing my car tomorrow

Just happen to make him bring a breaker bar/torque wrench and a 30mm socket as well then

Re: Keeping the Sei...

I'm sure you have got Abarth wheels on the car (now its not for sale it makes mine the best looking abarth for sale on the site) it will be the extra screw in stud that is probably stripped. I think you can only get them from Fiat as they are rare but they are only a couple of pounds each.

Funny how taking the car in for the fuel tank meant the whole lot got checked!! Its good to make sure the car is safe but its a 10yr old Cento so you dont want to be paying main dealer prices and they should realise that.
