Hi all :D,

Does anyone else find their front seat headrests are angled too far away from the back of their head? Mine seem to be a mile away from my head even though think I have a good seating position (i.e. I don't have the backrest at 45 degrees like a Nova/Corsa chav).
I know that headrests are supposed to be as close to the back of the head as possible to prevent whiplash in an accident.

As the headrests don't have a tilt mechanism like other cars I've had, is there anything that can be done to modify them? I had thought about bending the support posts, but as they don't remove from the seats and would require heating up the metal it could prove a bit tricky - not to mention risking setting the car alight, lol !

I've been wondering about for quite a while as well, they are miles away from your head. Older seicentos have it padded and thicker, so they sit much closer to your head. I wonder if punto's headrests would fit.

Thought about this myself - don't really wanna get rid of the ones that are in my sei tho (abarth ones), but I would imagine the older headrest style will fit...

So, it's not just me then :).

I thought about the cushion idea as well but I think I'll use grey gaffer tape instead of cellotape as it matches the grey trim better lol :D!!

Why couldn't Fiat have made them adjustable like nearly every other car

It wouldn't be such a problem if the bloody things were removable (like the rear ones), then I could make a shield for the actual headrest, heat the metal poles up with the welding tackle and bend them. Well, I'm assuming they don't come out, or am I just not pulling hard enough, has anyone removed theirs?

btw, cojones, how did you get on with the induction system - did you get round to building one yet?

Not yet, I am changing jobs at the moment so I've got no spare time. However I have an idea of how to do it, just need to find the materials, specially a container to house the filter, and then fixings for the air intake on the bumper :)

And time lol

Could be just dreaming this, but I'm pretty sure I've had mine out...

IIRC I dont think the front headrests pull out, think they would have to be hacksawed out, i just think the backs just pull out.

I can see what you are saying about better protection though, they are pretty crap although remember we only got 1 star in the ncap anyway so is it worth it?

I doubt it unless they have been broken before

Remember people are taller than others and adjust its height, if it just popped out then taller people wouldnt have a headrest as it would just come out

Me too... will try later. I am almost certain I was able to on my spanish cento, to gain space on the back for some stuff I was carrying (so I could push the seat forward while tilted as much as possible).

The backs come out but not the front ones

Have you considered fitting different seats entirely?

Kristian

i have thaught abaut this for a while and thre is away to remove them;)

pull the head rest up as high as it will go.
then hacksaw the lowest point you can on the head rest pole, you will then have enough bar left to give support and allow refitting.

in theory it shoud work

Ha Ha, good point, well made (y)
It's just that I like my headrests almost touching the back of my head so when I'm on a long boring motorway journey I can settle at 70 in the inside lane and have a nap without my head rolling back and waking me up lol! just joking :D
