so what would everybody class the seicento/cinquecento ignition system as. DIN, DIS or anything else. becuase im doing research into rev counters and i rang a company and they asked me what it was. and i wasnt sure. ebcuase modern DIS systems use twin coil packs. so it made me think if it is.

Its a DIS system, operates with wasted spark on two positively switched coils

yes i know malin dixon thankyou. ive read your thread quet a bit and i was jsut wodnering because ive found a company based in england somewhere that manufacture rev counters that have a switch on them to operate at twin coil function. the description says becuase of modern DIS ignition systems the 2 cylinder function is incorperated. so should work. gunna get onto the phone to them tomorrow probably and get one oredered.

I can't understand why poeple go to so much trouble with converting an SX or equivalent into a hybrid sporting. Just get your dad to buy you a sporting and save the hastle.

well im sorry but unlike some spoiled people in this world i have to work with what ive got. ic ant afford to just go out and buy another car or ask my daddy to do it for me. i earn a living myself and i wish to add a rev counter to my SX model. and to be honest i dont see a problem with doing so. and i dont see why you do either.

I can't understand why people go to so much trouble with converting their sportings into a hybrid 1.2 punto. Just get your dad to buy you a punto and save the hassle.

i didnt mean to cause bother here. but why does somebody always have to put a downer on things people want to do. next youll be starting on all the turbo cinq/sei owners just becuase they want something that you cantbuy off every dealership floor. why be so negative for.

small typo there tom..they're negatively switched

I thought as much, but I also thought its not a particularly safe way of doing it, and something like that would have positive interlocks or the equivalent

When you convert an SX into a sporting all you do is swap parts and make a car that FIAT produced and generally you'll end up spending more than if you got one and sold your old car. However when you put a Punto engine in a Cento you certainly do not get the Punto the engine came from, you get something lighter, faster, nimbler & more fun to drive.

thats what i meant. but im not making mine look like a sporting anyway. im just using some of the sporting trim. and im using an aftermarket rev counter for peoples interest. im not having a go. i just dont understand why there are people out there that allways have something bad to say about people who like to modify cars. if you all get me. not starting an argument here.
