Can anyone recommend a decent QUIET air filter/ box replacement?
Ive just taken my K&N 57i filter off after only 1500 miles coz,

A) It knocks against the anti roll bar,

B) When I floor it (which is quite often) the induction roar is just too damn loud!

I love the extra power the filter gives but I hate the noise. I know I could get a replacement filter panel, but it wont give as much oomph! And I dont want to go cutting up the original box to get any extra air flow into it. Can any one recommend or do they know of a different filter, new airbox/front airbox section that gives a good response but doesn't sound like a jumbo on take off?!

2 options come to mind, either you fit an induction kit fitted on a piece of trunking that moves the roar further away to the bumper, such as the GSR kit but theres no guarentee that this will reduce the noise you hear.2nd option is fit a performance filter which i know you dont want but will reduce the noise.to be honest induction roar is the offset of the increased air flow and as such is generally something you have to live with or as i would say 'enjoy':D

Fit a panel filter in the standard airbox but graft a bigger air intake tube to the front, take this down to the front bumper near the passenger side - cut some of the blanked off grille out too to get some fresh air in. Drilling the airbox will actually not be great, it'll draw hot air directly from the exhaust manifold.

Centos work much better with a good cold air feed.

Well I have to admit I am a fussy git when it comes to my car!
I've already changed my sportex backbox for a Supersprint (after only 70 miles & at twice the cost) because I couldn't stand the noise! Dont get me wrong its does sound good, the fact that its knocking against the strut brace is final straw!
