try to get a low mileage model, these were designed as town cars so be wary of anything with a huge mielage on it

Thanks guys, looking at 3 today, all £3k, with around 27-40k on the clock.

i wouldn't pay 3k for one, what reg are u looking at? avoid dealers and get a private sale, dealers value these cars far too high

Almost made mind up on a V reg with 27k from a non Fiat dealer for £3k but he's offering £1k on my P reg Cinqy Sporting with 93k on it so I thought it was a pretty good deal. Don't think he has the red key so will have to see what happens with that.

the sei doesnt need a 'RED KEY', its programmed into all the keys.

Ihad my V reg sei for £2k with 34k on the clock, it had a few things wrong with it, but it was mechanically sound apart from my clutch problem

V reg is somewhere around the changeover for red/blue and just blue keys. If it has a 2 with a ring around it stamped on the key, it doesn't need a red master key.

my sei is an Xreg. I only got one blue key with mine, cuz it was a finance recovery. Does that mean im not actually missing a red key like i have always thought?

3k for a V reg is a bit much to me? it got any abarth goodies? then mayb worth it.

The chances are ur x reg is a new phase immboliser key, if it has got 1 2 with a ring around it then u don't need a red key, although i would get a copy of the one you have got made if u only have one key!

my original key has a 2 with an arrow with 2 rings around them.
I keep meaning to get a new key, but as with everything, itll happen one day.
Shall do this summer tho hehe

timpsons did one for me at £17.50, can't say fairer than that for a transponder key, ur best gettin it done matey, u lose that key and its a lot of hassle to sort out! trust me, i know!

I put a deposit on it yesterday. I think it's a fair price based on the condition and the trade-in of my car.

If it does need a red key then the guy said he can get them cut no problem, if he does this how am i going to know if it is right? If it starts the engine is that fine?
If I don't get the red key then how much will one set me back?

the red key can't be cut easily, if he knows a way then he needs to tell us all!

The red key is important if something goes wrong with the ecu, immoboliser etc... and if it does ur looking at a small fortune to put it right without the redkey, even at breakers prices. (new locks, ignition barrel, ecu etc...)

The red key doesn't just start the engine, it can reset the immoboliser and i think it does some tuning stuff (not sure tho) so don't just accept it cus it starts the car, as keys to do this can be made cheaply at timpsons etc...

If he definately hasn't got the red key, then u need to haggle the price down a bit more.

Keys:
REQUIRES RED KEY: if blue key has a triangle with two circles around it.

DOESN'T REQUIRE RED KEY: if blue key has a 2 with two rings around it.

u can't get them cut as such as far as i know unless you have an original red key to copy (which there would be no point in doing if u had the red key, lol) you have to replace the lot (ecu, locks, ignition etc...) but thats only if the shi*t hits the fan. My old cinq didn't come with a redkey and i never needed it. Just depends on if ur lucky! lol
