Random question....

Is it possible to remove the water pump in my cinq sporting without fully removing the cambelt? I just wondered if I loosened the tensioner, I might be able to slide it through?? I only ask cos it's a pain to get everything lined up - done it 3 times and I'm always worried I get it wrong...haven't so far but sods law will apply one day...If I have to remove the belt well ok, it has to be done I suppose....

The new pump is leaking after only 5k miles since replacing the engine, so I'm not a happy bunny!

I know I can make a bit more space by dropping the engine mount on the cambelt side....

I'm just trying to mininise the amount of agro!!!

Any advice...

I think that there will be more agro trying to get the pump out without removing the belt, as you know its not difficult to do the belt so just take it off.

Cheers

D

I know, I know.....I just wanted to test the water before I started again.....

The upside of the engine replacement you might have remembered from last year, it's a peach of an engine. A lot quieter than the original:D . I'm just gutted that after changing all the ancillary stuff, including the water pump:bang: , plus the lowering kit:slayer: , I have to get my hands dirty again!!

Thanks anyway, D.

dont be worried about cam belt removal, it possibly the easiest car ever to change a cam belt on, and as its a non interference engine if you dont get it right, it wont ruin your engine!!

take your time, use a new belt while you are at it, take time to check the timing lines/marks and recheck after a few manual revolutions of the engine, you should have it done in a couple of hours.

Thanks for the advice. You'll see from my previous threads, I've changed the engine once and done suspension stuff to the car. It's just a bummer having to tackle the ruddy water pump again - I only changed it 5k miles ago when the engine was on the bench along with the cambelt/cambelt tensioner pulley clutch etc etc. I was just trying to minimise work and looking for a quick fix......cambelt off it is then!!!
