bare metal!

is there a certain way that i would have to screw into the bare metal of the doors at the bottom by the door pockets. other screws seem to go into a plastic thing set into the door. are these neccesary?

if you get a tap and dye set the sme size as your screw you can make it have a thread so it will hold well in the metal, if not then just use self tappers, as they widen and should hold.

good luck

The theory behind the ickle plastic things is that they go into a prefinished hole that has paint all around. The screw goes into the plastic so no screw/metal interface. Self tapping screws, by their very name mangle the metal to suit their own thread, thereby breaking the zinc coating allowing steel/ steel interface and therefore, oxidation. Or bloody rust.

Cheers
