right then.while at 1st the 6 speed from a punto 55 seems a great upgrade there are a few issues.
the main stumbleing block is actually finding one as these are very hard to come by 2nd hand.
the next thing is the 6 speed 'box is slightly longer than the 5 speed box so you will get some rubbing on the end of the 'box at full lock.
its not a straight fit either.you will need to transfer over the cinq selector mechanism.
what you need to be aware is the difference in ratios.the 6th gear is actually lower than a cinqs fifth gear so not really any god for top speeds nor motorway cruising.
a cinq on sporting alloys would do 93mph at 6000 revs in 6th
also a cinq speedo drive would give you a higher reading than actual speed.
novitec used to do taller 5th gear kits but these have been discontinued.
however the closer gears in a 6 speed will allow you to keep the car in the power band more, right up the gears.
now unfortunatly, later seis use a difference driveshaft set up so i cannot confirm whether or not they are a straight fit or not
heres a comparison of ratios on 3 punto models
thanks to pete(fixitagaintommorow) and stonenewt for the info
