How to remove and refit rear hub/bearing assembly

Takes about 30mins, you will need a good jack, wheelbrace, breaker bar with 30mm socket, 12mm spanner, mug of tea. No swear words needed for this job, its simple!! Oh yes, a new bearing/hub assembly!!! [if you are replacing]

sorry i think there's been some confusion,i don't think the wheel is going to fall off,it's just what i've read and just wanted to clarify my judgement that there is no technical reason for someone to claim it will come off if it's re-fitted according to the torqe specs

as for someone elses car then i totally agree with your judgement there, thanx for the time you've taken to reply

Re: Cinquecento rear hub/bearing replacement

How do I check to find out if they need replacing, the sound, the wheels wiggle, the wheels fly off, or all of the above or something else?

Re: Cinquecento rear hub/bearing replacement

this is my summary of your question

a failed bearing may make a deep humming/rumbling sound while you are driving along, the noise will vary with speed

or, it could have play in it, ie, be loose, jack up the wheel in question and grab each side of the tyre, either at 12 and 6 o clock, or 6 and 9 o clock positions, and try to wobble the wheel, if there is play you will feel it

I doubt things will get that bad that it will make the wheel fall off, dont think thats possible at all
