| | Re: Cylinder Head Gasket remove and refit i used the guide today and it was very good thanks. the following might help anybody who is taking head off. when i jacked the car up i took front bumper off as well (only 8 screws) this makes it much easier to get at radiator pipes. then when you remove exhaust manifold just unclip radiator and you can get rachet and socket on nuts. thanks again mick

What do you recommend I check that the garage has done in order to have effected a proper repair? What parts/procedures are essential? Cylinder head apparently OK, they say - was pressure tested and re-skimmed earlier this week.

| | Re: Cylinder Head Gasket remove and refit they need to show you the old gasket and point out where it failed, and why it failed if the head was pressure tested and skimmed thats great, its a good idea to possibly have the water pump and cam belt renewed at this time, even a new thermostat too - somewhere along the line a part of the cooling system has failed, and this is why the head gasket has gone a check needs to be made that the radiator fan will come on when the engine gets hot chances are they will have bought a head gasket kit, this means you will have new gaskets on the inlet manifold, exhaust manifold, thermostat, cam cover and rubber O ring in the coil pack bracket, also new head bolts
